Broadcast News

Stay with me here for those of you not going to the MSU-Pitt game. The broadcast map is a little bizarre.

If you live in certain markets in Michigan or Pennsylvania, you might be able to see the game. It will be shown on ABC there. The rest of you will likely get the Ohio State-Cinci thriller on ABC or other regional action. The game is actually on ESPN2 in other markets — split with the BYU-BC game. If you look at that map, you will see that the entire East Coast and Southeast will be showing the BYU-BC game, not the MSU-Pitt match-up. That means in NY, NJ, Maryland, DC and even markets like Philly, the only way to see the game is to pay for ESPN Gameplan. For the Midwest and West Coast, MSU-Pitt will be shown.

How about Dish Network or DirecTV? I’ll be watching this one from the bar, but what channel do I tell the bartender to tune to??

So basically, my free options in DC are watching OSU-Cincy or BC-BYU?

Ugh.

Dish for DC area may include WHTM from Harrisburg–at least one listing I saw, said it did. If so, the game could be on barring that station being blacked out by Dish Network during the game.

…I see that the game won’t be aired in Philly but I’m curious to know if it will be broadcast on ABC [sports]. If ESPN2 and ABC Sports are one and the same, than I wouldn’t know any better and I’m asking y’all here on the site because calling Comcast is like hitting one’s head against a wall. Thanks

I checked tonight and didn’t find the Harrisburg station. However, I did find ESP2A (ESPN2 Alternate being listed as showing the Pitt vs MSU game in the DC area on Dish network (Channel #146). The BC-BYU game is on teh regular ESPN2. So, it looks like we are getting both here on Dish Network.

No longer believe I can see game on Dish. When I click on game it says not available in your area. I suspect the same will happen on Direct TV. ESPN wants to collect $$ for gameplan!!
