Pitt just landed what is at worst the second biggest commitment of the Chryst era in Jordan Whitehead. The four star cornerback from Central Valley (Monaca) chose Pitt over Ohio State, Penn State, and West Virginia. Whitehead is rumored to will be enrolling in January and could push for a starting position as a freshman. Also important is that Whitehead ends the run of bad luck in Beaver County for Pitt.
Celebrate the victory today and hope for another tomorrow, Pitt fans.
*Quick edit, the early enroll isn’t a rumor now, it’s confirmed.
Hasn’t the message gotten through yet?
Are our recruiters reaching out to Malzone and other Michigan defensive recruits? Given the coaching change that is undoubtedly going to occur at the end of the year, it might be a good idea to tactically focus on 2-3 of their kids and keep in contact with them. Just sayin!
I need upitt to make his prediction today so that I can go opposite and win again!! lol @upitt, but thanks. Am 3-0 going against your predictions.
Carpe’ the cavaliers!

Also what may be great news for basketball. If Uchebo’s knees continue to get better, he may be a major plus for the team. Watching him last year made me think there was no chance. Still need to see him up against other bigs, but rebounding a huge need for the team.
Which Pitt team will we see tonight? Hopefully one that plays hard for four quarters.
I don’t expect these young men to be choirboys but AB’s transgression may be as simple as cutting a class or not showing up for a tutoring session.
I’m not saying that is the reason but it easily could be something that stupid. This staff isn’t going to set policies and standards and then not adhere to them. We already have seen a one year suspension for what was rumored to be the failing of one class so these guys must know that Chryst is serious about the administrative side of playing football at PITT now.
First game as an underdog tonight?
As a comparison, FSU was holding out Winston for a half for a public display of utter ignorance before they were pressured to do more.
Chryst has it right, Pitt’s image and teaching players to be decent human beings way more important than a football game.
27-17
Duff By the way I like Ole Miss at Home today with 6 points… The Grove is rocking. One of the prettiest College Campuses in the US.
Congrats to the Chryst for taking recruiting in his own hands and not letting House be part of it. What does that say about House? He will be gone next year.Kids like different styles for sure and it appears Chryst no nonsense no sizzle excited this kid. Good Work.

Central Valley Coach Mark Lyons (Trib Review)
Seems JUST OFFER does work… with some kids.
Getting a glimpse of who Jordan Whitehead is… maybe CHARACTER is the key.
P-I-T-T Lets Go Pitt! (da dada da da da dadadada…)
Bisnowaty out. Yes, it’ll hurt, but mostly by just limiting Chryst’s options.
Bisnowaty… and Dorian Johnson for that matter… have both been MARGINAL AT BEST. Certainly not worthy the 4 or 5 Stars they were rated coming out of High School.
Pitt better off with Jones-Smith going the distance. This may be the point of “no going back.”
I think everyone on this blog is missing one key quote by Paul Chryst int he wake of the Akron lost.
“It’s time to tighten the reigns”.
What do you guys think this means? I’ll tell you what I think. I think that it means that he gave the players the freedom to police themselves early in the season. And for a while it worked. And then things started to not work. I can’t say what the team or some members of the team did or did not do last friday night.
I can say that the entire team sucked on the field.
I can also say that Paul Chryst said it’s time to tighten the reigns.
I can also say that this week, a player is suspended.
Circumstantial evidence at best, but to me it does point to something more than just making sure the team executes at practice. I think we could be in for a surprise this evening. In a good way.
Don’t get down on these guys yet.
Clemmings and Rotherham a different story need to pick it up this week.
Here is the quote:
To the poster that talked of Whiteheads character I agree. I would go for Chryst’s pitch now at 37 a lot more than I would of at 18. His style will work for some but the majority like the flash and excitement. I would like to think Chryst could get some flash to help recruit and close them with a soft close he uses.
Emel – I know you are liking the Mississippi schools to pull some upsets today?
Do expect PITT to show up much better than a week ago.
But keep in mind, the field at Scott Stadium is GRASS. James Conner and this PITT Team… at their very best on a Fast Track.
As for Virginia, the Cavs coming out in All-White Unis for the 1st time at Home. Let’s hope this has the same effect as PITT’s “All-Whites” have had too many times.
With Virginia in White, of course this means PITT coming out in BLUE unless there is a GOLD we haven’t seen.
Regardless, for PITT to “pull the upset” (4.5 pts)… it’s going to require more than just DRAMATICALLY BETTER PLAY at Quarterback.
HOUSE needs to have his House in Order, which a week ago it obviously was a MESS.
Putting a little pressure on the Virginia QB… either Johns or Lambert… would be nice… especially when it’s Johns who is the Better Runner.
BOTTOM LINE…
Virginia will follow the same template as Iowa and Akron… STOP CONNER… put the Game on Voytik.
Voytik spilled the beans by saying a slew of new plays has been installed involving QUICK, SHORT PASSES. Even with the Cavs knowing what’s coming, this should still play well into Chad’s STRONG SUIT.
However, if this doesn’t work… LOOK OUT… TREY TIME could be just around the Corner.
And could have a Big Game especially with ADONIS getting on the Field.
The REDSHIRT is Burned. Why hold back now?
The excitement of the thought of running down to the game, was really my only excitement for the game.
I find that a week after the loss to Akron, I’m still not really interested in the game. My Pitt enthusiasm is at one of the lowest points it’s been in the last 15 years.
I believe of my own doing. Thought we were further ahead than we were, and had made some progress. I now have many doubts.
I will be watching the game.
It’s up to the coaches and players to give me a spark back to life and to buoy my spirits.
I hope they can do it.
Hittin’ the road, H2P!!
I know, my comments presume a bad outing by Pitt and Voytik, which I definitely am not hoping for…just feeling pretty jaded after getting punked by Akron at home. If Voytik is flailing early, in this half-way point game of the year, be decisive and either pull him early before it gets out of hand or leave him in there to try to clean up his own mess. Safe to assume UVA will throw the sink at Conner so I don’t expect easy sledding for him or other backs. Wish Voytik well but my expectations have dipped a ton since the BC game. Again, if alternating QBs was good enough for Iowa, Akron, Michigan, and a bunch of others, why isn’t it good enough for us?
I’m sure I’m not alone, probably human nature, but when my team loses, I lose the excitement for the rest of the sport.
All jacked up to watch Kansas City/Oakland the other night, because the Pirates were in the mix. Pirates lost, suddenly the playoffs aren’t so interesting.
Same with Pitt. Losing to Akron took some of my schadenfreude of watching Penn St get beat by Northwestern away. Still glad they lost, but the wallowing in the glee and joy of it was gone.
Bring me back boys, give me a reason to get pumped up for Va. Tech!!
I know it is much easier to find open receivers in the upper deck than at field level with people ruhing in on you, but he does seem to ignore other receivers.
I remember on a key 3rd down play vs Iowa, PJ Holtz was pretty wide open towards the left sideline and Chad didn’t even look his way
I’m a big fan of NCAA BB Tourney, but when Pitt lost that 1 point game to Butler a few years back, I barely paid attention until the final game.
The loss of that game should be the burr under the Panther’s saddle from here on out. Respect your opponent, prepare appropriately for battle and if you get the opportunity to, bury them without mercy.
Never forget Akron! If the older leaders on this team had that kind of memory in the first place, the Akron debacle would never had occurred because those veterans should have been preaching all week to remember YSU, just to stress the importance of proper prep and focus for the Akron game.
This team needs to take care of business tonight, “remember Akron”! H2P!
“You want to get the best guys from the area going down there and playing for the city,” Whitehead said. “You can’t do wrong with that.”
Amen Mr. Whitehead. Western Pa talent may not be deep but Pitt still has to consistently get most of what is here as the “keystone” to their recruiting.
