Raycom affiliates and ACCDN.
Get excited for this broadcast folks. This is a full-on Raycom production. No ESPN affiliation for this one. We could have a real throwback in terms of production values and missed camera shots. I didn’t fully realize the extent until I started looking around for the links. For the older folks, we are talking legendary Jefferson-Pilot possibilities.
Not that that level isn’t somewhat deserved in this final year before the ACC Network. UNC and Pitt were both below .500 last year. UNC is off to a o-2 start. Pitt is 2-1, but nationally buried in light of the debacle in the second game.
Okay, the game itself. This is UNC’s home opener. It should have been last week against UCF, but for that whole hurricane thing. The Tar Heels have had an extra week of rest, and while I won’t say an extra week of prep for this game. The coaching staff there has had an extra few days to prepare the gameplan following the cancellation of last week’s game.
UNC has 13 players at various points on the depth chart serving suspensions. The QB has yet to complete more then half his passes.
You get the idea. UNC is not a good team. They have some good players. They even have some bright spots.
The best way to neutralize a passing game is to pressure the quarterback.
That doesn’t figure to be easy, if North Carolina’s first two games signal a trend. California and East Carolina won but never sacked the quarterbacks.
When [Defensive Line Coach Charlie] Partridge mentioned “zero sacks,” he seemed to put a big of emphasis on the word “zero.” So, it’s good bet he’s challenged his players with that stat this week.
UNC under Fedora wants to pass. They want to go up-tempo and limit defensive substitutions. Hard stops neutralizes that. Forces the offense to slow down and not be caught making mistakes.
For Pitt, this game is about coming out strong, and not completely falling off in the second half. Specifically, the offense.
As the Tar Heels make defensive adjustments. Stack more against the run, Pitt has to be able to complete vertical passes. Personally, I’m really hoping to see the middle of the field used in this game, but that might be too optimistic.
Its going to be a long season, we just don’t have the talent period.
Defensive line was a sieve and got pushed around, granted there was a lot of holding.
No pass rush from the front 4 at all.
linebackers aren’t line backers.
Paris Ford gets confused a lot on where to position himself.
The rest of the defensive backs cant keep up with with the receivers.
We hardly try any screens, the way they rushed the QB we could have hurt them several times.
Prognosis:
The sad thing is there is not on the bench to replace anyone and the bench is suppose to be the future.
It all starts with recruiting and as we know our recruits are average at best.
They won’t fire anyone at this point but maybe the Duzz will come to realize he does not have what it takes to run a program and make it successful. He should approach Lykes to work out a deal to leave at the end of the season and give her a chance to select a better coach.
I am sick of watching this shit can of an operation and the administration needs to do something about it. Last year for season tickets, I can just watch on tv and turn it off when it gets as crappy as todays game.
UCF next week will be worse than Penn State. UCF is a fast paced team with very fast athletes. Our kids will be in shock again.
Are there really any Pitt players left who still think they will win the Coastal? If so, please call and have St. Francis line up some rooms…
Its bad folks.
Point is… confusing anything Chryst with everything Narduzzi is LAUGHABLE!
Chryst NEVER blamed Players, always took responsibility and always showed CLASS… even when wearing a XXXL Sweatshirt that hadn’t seen the washer in weeks.
When Narduzzi is finally forced out at PITT… and it’s coming sooner rather than later… very easy to GUARANTEE that you are NOT going to see Narduzzi Head-Coaching anything.
Chryst is trash…I don’t care how much he wins.
Absolutely tired of Pitt Admin going through the PRETENSE. Also little patience with GULLIBLE Fans willing to settle for the SCRAPS they’re being fed by Pitt Admin.
All I’m waiting for… and it may be a LONG wait… are TWO things.
One… a PROVEN Head Coach who is WAY SMARTER than any of us and it IMMEDIATELY shows in both Wins and Recruiting.
And Two… the decision by Pitt Admin to move forward with the building of a new ON-CAMPUS PITT STADIUM that both Students and Alumni can be PROUD of… and DESERVE.
I realize this is asking a LOT and many here and elsewhere would call IMPOSSIBLE.
But, the TRUTH really is… Anything short of these TWO things just means more PRETENSE.
The END.
once and for all please stop the on campus stadium issue. There is no damn room to put a full size stadium and any university property. The university does not own panther hollow or any part of S Park. I just wish the administration would just be honest and address the issue and put it to rest. Also , they don’t have the funds to build it anyway, it would cost at least $200 million. Its a pipe dream.
I was one who believed that when Coach Narduzzi was hired, he would bring this program back to prominence on the national stage. I no longert can believe he is the guy that can get the job done. We are in year 4 of his job and we are not making any kind of progress with the objectives of the team. SMH
Just being real here, I don’t understand why people cant accept the reality that it can’t and won’t happen. Last year I spoke with a person on the board of trustees, there is no plan, discussion or thought of a facility at all. ( money and no room to place it). Everyone needs to accept it and move on and stop talking about it. Its not a matter of my attitude, it a matter of reality.
But just as REAL is the fact that without a NEW Pitt Stadium on (or near) campus, Pitt Football will NEVER be regarded as a PROMINENT Player on the National College Football Scene.
So which one is it going to be?
