We knew Penn State-Pitt was going to be a night game broadcast by the Mouse Monopoly. We just didn’t know which station. Turns out they are going big for it:
One of college football’s most historic rivalries will be showcased in primetime when Pitt and Penn State clash at Heinz Field this September 8 in front of a national ABC television audience at 8 p.m.
This will be the first night kickoff for a Pitt-Penn State game in 31 years. On November 14, 1987, the Panthers defeated the Nittany Lions, 10-0, in an ESPN televised game at Pitt Stadium that started at 7:30 p.m.
This game is going to be one of the wilder ones.
Still not convinced that it will have College GameDay as well for it. But we will see.
On more of a downer note, Peter’s Pub is coming to an end.
What is the meaning of this @Souf_Oaklin!?! How could they do this to us…What’s next @MadMex_Oakland? Antoons? The Cathedral? My middle name is Peter ???#ImNotCryingYoureCrying pic.twitter.com/zGEGsN89Lt

With the end of Peter’s looming that is about it for bars I used to hit right in Oakland. I have a hard time counting Hemingway’s as the same place, because when I was at Pitt; Hemingway’s was more of a restaurant right on campus that out-of-town freshmen went with their parents because they didn’t know where else to go for dinner. Or it was the place you went into and then slipped across into C.J. Barney’s.
Peter’s Pub was always reliable. It never had the buzz as the place to go — other then on bucket or import night. It was not one that got in a lot of trouble for underage drinking.
Calico’s, The Decade, The Attic, Zelda’s, Denny’s, SOD, the list goes on.
Chief’s is still around, though.
Most are long gone, Peter’s the last to go.
