This is a bit awkward.

But at least they got the logo correct.
Not much going on right now. PSU may not have their players muzzled, but they are sticking to a rote script. About as insulting as they get is the traditional, “just another game,” stuff. Or sticking to their “unrivaled” branding with every game is a big game type crap. Everyone is trying to keep it low key.
Hopefully, Coach Pat Narduzzi and the rest of the Pitt defensive coaches really have solved the issues with defending the wheel route.
I welcome all references to the 1999 Pitt-PSU game, even though Pitt lost. Simply because it always brings back a flood of memories of watching the game with my grandmother.
You can read the article from Joe Starkey on how beating PSU could be bigger then 13-9, but it just isn’t true. Heck, once you get past the headline you can see Starkey walking it back.
I’m beginning to think a Pitt victory Saturday at Beaver Stadium — the Panthers are 21-point underdogs — might constitute the biggest upset in school history, depending on the circumstances and how the season plays out.
There’s a lot of qualifications to make it so. But no. It wouldn’t. Let’s not even try to make it a thing.
Pitt was a wreck that year. With injuries. With the fans so down on the future. I mean, there was absolutely no hope for that game.
The Nits are a huge favorite this weekend. There’s a lot in their favor. But if Pitt wins, it hardly will seem inconceivable. Just a hell of an upset and another reminder of what rivalry games can produce.
I was in 7th grade and my parents insisted on going to the now defunct store Ames in the middle of the third quarter. I said to my dad, “You are nuts. I’m not leaving.” Five minutes later, me and my younger brother were angry in the car. We arrived back home with five minutes left in the game and saw the blocked field goal.
As a kid in the mid 90’s, being a Pitt football and basketball fan was so demoralizing. I still can’t believe what we were blessed with during Jaimie Dixon’s tenure and I really appreciate the super occasional upsets that the football team pulls off.
Let’s kick some dairy butt this weekend.
Or maybe it was about Dantonio all along?
