Friends and fellow Pitt Blather readers – I’d like to invite you all to my new Pitt football website “The Pitt POV” that I am rolling out this morning.
I know this is short notice – I wanted to get the blog ‘on the air’ on July 5th but a good friend of mine posted on the Pitt Fanatics Facebook group that I had this new blog and linked it – so it went public way before I had wanted it to… I didn’t even get a chance to call Chas and let him know my plans as I wanted it to be more polished before I did so (he’s gotten an email though).
But really it was you all who I wanted to help guide me through the building process because we’re family when it comes to the intent and content of The Pitt POV.
You all know how I write, how much I love to do it and best of all the great and meaningful discussions we have had between myself and the readers and commenters of the articles I have posted (almost 500 BTW) on here.
Please keep that going over on The Pitt POV also guys. The Blather has amazingly astute readers. I want the same -the same and more actually – over on my new place. But of course I’ll always check The Blather and comment as before (and even drop a piece or two in the article bin every so often if Chas still wants that).
I love you guys and since my retirement in 2011 this blog and the readers on here have become a great part of my life. I’m looking forward to seeing you again, just in a different place. I’ll also be writing some personal essays and non-sports related articles on The Pitt POV that wouldn’t really fit well on the Blather as The Pitt POV will be my personal blog also.
Lastly I want to say thanks to Chas for being the greatest blog ‘owner’ I ever worked with. Of course that’s a pretty small and select group of people (1), but he’s truly a great Pitt fan who has a solid handle on the university and its dealings. He’s an all-around good guy.
So – off to new adventures… I have the same media credentials as before so I’ll be going up to camp in the fall and letting the Pitt POV readers what I see and feel about the team.
See you soon – Reed
P/S: Along with articles I plan on sending out an introductory email and monthly newsletters – so stay tuned for that also

That said – New article up on The Pitt POV now…
Sam Sciullo, Jr is a very good and entertaining sports writer who has a love for the University of Pittsburgh and especially its sports teams. Listed in that author’s link are the books he has published in this genre’. My favorite of his by far is the “University of Pittsburgh Football Vault” because it is not only informative but just fun as hell to read. [ 759 more words. ]
I’d drop Ibrahim, Parrish, Soto, Lewis and Jarrett off the list.
By the way I tried to post on PITTPOV and failed this morning.
The point is, they all have this year to make their point.
This is totally ridiculous. We have four seniors, and other experienced guys. Of course point guard is an issue, but there are good options.
Talk about no respect.
Chas,
As a blather faithful, I think we deserve to know what’s going on. If you don’t plan to shut the site down, then let us know. We deserve better than the silent treatment.
As for gc’s link…I think we need to wait and see. Stallings has had NBA talent and never achieved much with them. Dixon had major issues…but getting average players to play above average and over-achieve was not one of them. I could see us taking a MAJOR step backwards this year…or not. The fact is, none of us know what Stalling’s will achieve.
Chas I miss your Bball postings!!!!
So, I had no worries. However, thought we may have had an article on the summer leagues?
Tried to post this on POV with no success. Too many posts not going through, getting frustrated Reed. Is anyone else having the problem?
Not having a problem. Try Chrome.
I’ll have something BB related up this even then will try to keep up on it.
I’m not a big BB fan but this is something you all need obviously.
And McQuery testified he told Tom Bradly, so thank God, he was never hired by Pitt. As I remember some on here were pushing for.
Also Greg Shiano supposedly knew. And that would make sense, he was rewarded with keeping quiet with the Head Coaching gig at Buttgers.
Cause that’s how things are done.

Hopefully Chas will keep this one going as well.
Which does a couple things for Pedo State.
1) Pedo State is no longer the only ‘Eastern’ team in the Midwestern based B1G.
2) Increases the overall TV eyeballs for the Network TV moolah, so increases Pedo State overall cut of the B1G Money jackpot.
3) Adding Buttgers and Maryland, ‘shuts out’ Pitt as a possible B1G addition. And we know how much they hate us up in Pedo Valley.
And Greg boy, ends up ‘falling’ to safety at the numero uno cash program in the B1G, as Associate Head Coach.
Got to take care of those that keep their mouths shut and do nothing to disturb the ‘cash cow’.
if you remember I was insistent on here that Pitt would never hire Bradley and some commenters thought I was wrong – but I had gotten that info directly from Nordenberg himself in a conversation I had with him a few years ago… along with a lot of other stuff also.
But Nordenberg was very adamant that Bradley or anyone else from PSU wouldn’t be hired by Pitt while he was Chancellor. It was kind of a no-brainer to me but some Pitt fans refused to believe that Bradly would have been associated with that secret-keeping.
I hope it works…
The thing that will differentiate the style of play between this year and last may be the HC trusting his players. What does he have to lose? – certainly not his job thanks to Barney.
