7pm ESPN3.
I have to skip the live viewing tonight as there is a rare night out with the wife sans children. Of course I plan to use this sacrifice to my benefit this evening. Just haven’t decided how, as yet.
Eastern Washington is actually Pitt’s first opponent in the Gotham Classic. Which will culminate (sort of) in facing Davidson at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, December 20.
The Panthers (6-1) will have three home games as part of the Gotham Classic, starting tonight when they play host to Eastern Washington (5-4). Pitt also will play Morehead State (Sunday) and Western Carolina (Dec. 23) in home games over the next two weeks as part of the event.
A little odd, but okay.
Pitt is coming off a total dismantling of Arkansas State last Sunday. Not much to say about that game other than the joy of hitting 100 points; and Mike Young, Jamel Artis and James Robinson barely playing 20 minutes each.
The other news is guard Jonathan Milligan is indeed redshirting. The JUCO transfer will preserve his two years of eligibility.
“I think he’s going to be a good player,” Dixon said about Milligan, who averaged 3.3 points and 0.3 rebounds in 9.8 minutes and played in four of the Panthers’ seven games. “James Robinson is playing 35 minutes a game at this point and playing at a high level. Looking down the road, it’s the best thing for his career.”
Milligan appeared in the Panthers’ first three games and delivered eight points in 12 minutes against Detroit on Nov. 20, but off-court issues and increased playing time for Robinson and Wilson sidetracked him.
His last appearance was a 3-minute stint against Purdue on Dec. 1.
“He’s got a lot going on with some family issues and injuries,” Dixon said.
It was a little surprising to see him abruptly become a redshirt candidate, simply because he also plays a solid defense. More than Damon Wilson getting more minutes, though, it has been that Sterling Smith has been better than expected to this point.
Getting this year to redshirt will help Pitt for the next couple of years.
Now to immediately contradict myself, Van Pelt is intriguing and he managed to finish a couple yards ahead of Tiny, the greatest Pitt QB of all time. (sorry wbb I couldn’t help myself)
Upitt hang in there I appreciate your deep and strong commitment to Pitt; hell you make me look calm.
I wish Chaney well even though he puzzled me with passing against run defense challenged UNC and Miami. Miami was unbelievable when they double covered both wideouts and put 6 in the box and he passed anyway in the first half. Anyone still believe the infamous screaming with Narduzzi was over “headphone problems”?
The above comment about how nice the field looked at the Army/Navy game was dead on. AS long as the Rooneys have to spend money we will be nothing but an alien on a work visa. An OCS is needed.
Finally, to all Pitt players transferring THANKS FOR BEING PART OF PITT AND GOOD LUCK. HAIL TO PITT!!!
