You guys are killing me.
Have at it guys – what do you think the final score will be and who’s on top? Just to recap here is a link to the info on the game:
Pitt (6-3) vs Duke (6-3) ; Noon tomorrow in Duke’s Wallace Wade Stadium.
I’ll say 28-24 Pitt.
The 4th quarter party features all of our players taking off their uniforms. The Duke guys refuse to tackle anyone in the 4th quarter.
H2P
Duke 39
Zags 87 Pitt 68 We are totally destroyed on both offensive and defensive rebounding.
Maybe the offense has its “breakout game”
UNC certainly shredded them last week.
Another of many “Biggest Game of the Year”
Duke 24
Pitt 23
Game is more defensive and not high scoring.
In 2016! Then starting a we need a f ing OCS you assholes. I will bail you out boss!
Duke 21-20
Pitt 27
With Pitt scoring 2 TD’s in the last 5 minutes to once again show “this time is different” for Mr. Rah Rah.
Careful what you wish for though, our luck the backup comes in and burns it up though.
I’m gonna go on Sirk isn’t playing, and if he is someone nails him.
Pitt 31 Duke 17
Question for REED: What famous archeological dig did Major General Smedley Butler undertake in the United States?
Pitt 27 Duke 25 – going with the heart again.
This time, Pitt will score more than 3 points in the first half. I see a good balance with the pass and run. Duke hasn’t recovered from the Miami loss.
I like our chances, but this one can go either way. Cutcliffe has already publicly stated that Duke still has plenty to play for still. Pitt obviously does too. Whichever staff does a better job of rallying the troops will probably win. If Duke QB does end up going, Pitt absolutely has to pressure him and hit him hard and often.
If Pitt wins this game I think they will win at least one more and possibly win out. If they lose I really fear they are gonna lose out and hello 6-6 again. Really think this game is HUGE!
Pitt wins 27-21.
I think the hoop team is gonna play the Zags tough, but ultimately come up a little short. ACC is loaded this year. Jamie better get his groove back or it may be a long year and his seat may start to get a little hot.
Lady Panthers are winning. Hoping for a Pitt trifecta but as Meatloaf would say…
Huge upset … Pitt 59 – Zags 53
BTW Reed, this blog will die without you.
PREDICTIONS:
FOOTBALL: For the last 3 games I had the panthers scoring 31. Have concluded our O can’t score that many (ND game doesn’t count).
Hence- Pitt:27 Duke:24
BASKETBALL: Zags:78 Pitt:67
FACT: My 13th birthday (10/13) was on……. Friday the 13th!!!!
Pitt hoops battles Zaga tough tonight but never puts a real scare into them. Zaga 75-63.
66-52 Zags
Close game with Duke tomorrow. Dookies putting up almost 200 ypg on the ground. Probably a field goal game. I’ll go with Pitt because I want to believe Narduzzi is slaying SOP this year and a win tomorrow is one more step closer to that. A loss and it’s one step closer to 6-6.
27-25 Pitt
Pitt goes down 17 in the first half . . . . as usual by giving up 2-3 long passes and then loses by 4 with a failed 2nd half comeback . . . 35-31.
Might be different if Chaney finally tries to back Duke’s safeties off the line with some long pass attempts (hopefully caught this time) and does this on 1st or 2nd down instead of throwing in obvious passing situations.
Pitt’s DL was dominated by bigger better ND OL, but hopefully rises to the occasion against a more equal matchup against Duke.
Jamie isn’t going anywhere – unless it’s of his own accord.
Now Barton, BK, and even Smoke…. Need some better recuiters. If Howland can get kids in Starkville… no excuse why they aren’t coming here.
Jamie isn’t the problem as much as the no talent roster is. Need better players. Need better recuiters. Need to keep kids committed when they verbal.
Kind of a strange nickname don’t ya think. Who would want to be known as a Devil.
Not much of a Home Field advantage, as few at Duke have noticed much that the football team’s fortunes have changed quite substantially in Durham, having won 9 and 10 games the last 2 seasons.
Since there won’t be much noise directed at our guys by the sparse Duke crowd, they’ll have to have that Band of Brothers on the Road attitude be self-generated. So this is where a ‘into the game’ type coach like the Nard Dog should be of immense benefit.
We really need to come out fired up from the first snap and maintain that thruou the 1st half. As the last 2 games have been lost in the 1st half.
It would really help if Duke has to play their 2nd string QB, which really makes this a tough game prediction. As we don’t know at this point.
So I’ll make this simple. If Sirk doesn’t play Pitt wins….28-10. Or if Sirk plays at beginning and gets hurt in 1st quarter.
If Sirk plays the entire game, Pitt loses. 35-24.
I agree – If I’m Barnes though – I’m going with an influx of cash and change in lieutenants . I really think Jamie is the right guy to lead the program – he just needs more talent. Better assistants and better players.
The last three classes are aweful. Basically Slim, Luther, maybe a future starter in Damon Wilson, a 350 lb Center, and another tweener in Corey Manigault.
It’s just not enough.
…..in both football and slogball.
I hope Jamie has been having the practices up at old Fitzgerald this week as this place sounds kinda similar.
Game venue is Camp Foster Fieldhouse, seating capacity of 3,100.
Pax Americana.
As for the bball game tonight, I don’t know why but I think they actually have a better chance of winning than the FB team. I know, I’m crazy.
Duke 20
Pitt 60
Zags 72
Run blitzes should shut down Sirk or his replacement. Duke bball game tonight and tomorrow night. Hopefully keeps the crowd down!
Just can’t stop prognosticating 1-0 each week.
Chaney ain’t putting up 55 ever – and I don’t think Jamie gets there tonight either.
That said… the Road for this Pitt Team is starting to SMOOTH out a bit.
PITT BEATS Duke!
A MAJOR Factor in the Game is Qadree Ollison who might just score the WINNING TD!!
We shall see.
GO PITT!!!
I have NO idea. I’ll leave that to the “Dixon Diehards.”
I want to like Pitt to win tonight but I think the Zags bring the big boys and we get no inside scoring. If we had trouble getting to the hole against Gannon…look out tonight. The mitigating factor might be the new rules and if we can get to the line more than they do.
That’s neat!!
We have been hearing and saw in first game Dixon has been preaching a more aggressive defense, even installing a full court or 3/4’s court press, to create some turnovers leading to easy transition points.
Tonite provides a great opportunity to play that type of defense, as the Zag-nuts have an entire new backcourt, which should be susceptible to the Press.
We need to make this a transition type game, for if it gets into a halfcourt affair of slogball, their size will crush us underneath.
Attack their weakness, which is their new backcourt. Negate their strength. Our bigs are quicker so use that in transition as well.
Hopefully Sir Jamie will have the same thoughts and game plan in mind.
Let’s go Pitt !
I hope Jamie shows us a new look tonight.
HTP!
Pitt wins by running the ball and consuming time off the clock. PN tells Chaney to sit on it due to Pitt defensive line being so thin.
I doubt though that Pitt can slow down the Zags offense. I just hope we can keep it within 10. Pitt’s M.O. though in both sports is get way behind in the first half and struggle to make up the difference in the 2nd half. Not good….
Duke 31 Pitt 20
I’ll say 38-17 Pitt.
@Frank MD
We are getting way off topic here. But, while we wait for a new thread—being a National Historic Landmark is irrelevant if an owner of a property wishes to demolish or significantly remodel it. The structure is only “protected” if easements have been placed on it, which usually happens because of some sort of tax credits.
