New Athletic Director Scott Barnes just tweeted out a link to let Pitt fans reserve tickets to the Penn State game next year early. Here are the details:
2015 Pitt Football Season Ticket Holders and Mini Package Holders may now request additional tickets to the highly anticipated matchup in 2016 between Pitt and Penn State at Heinz Field. Additional single game ticket requests can be made by calling the Panthers Ticket Office at 800-643-7488 or by clicking here.
TICKET ALLOCATION
The following order of ticket allocation will be used:
- Season Ticket Holders that are Panther Club members that have requested additional tickets by rank
- Mini Package Holders that are Panther Club members that have requested additional tickets by rank
- Season Ticket Holders that are non-Panther Club members that have requested additional tickets by rank
- Mini Package Holders that are non-Panther Club members that have requested additional tickets by rank
Following the Ticket Allocation of requests from Pitt Football Season Ticket and Mini Package Holders we will offer an exclusive opportunity to the following groups based on availability…
- Panther Club members that are not Pitt Football Season Ticket or Mini Package holders by rank
- Pitt Alumni Association members
After this exclusive period any remaining single game tickets will be made available to the general public.
I can’t stress how important it will be to make sure Heinz is as pro-Pitt as possible. None of us like Penn State, but we can’t deny they have a large fan base that will attend in droves. This is a great way to make the stadium as friendly as possible, so do your part and reserve tickets today!
More basketball fodder..
Lunardi with 9 ACC teams in… guess who’s out?
Lot of time left… but Narduzzi has plenty of work ahead yet.
Double Yoi !
Stop worrying about recruiting classes. This year was never going to be Top 20. Too late to the game. 2017 is the year we’ll rise in the rankings. All that means is more risks and chances. less sure things.
I realize it’s crazy early as hoops aren’t even practicing yet, but to have Joe L. Bracketology preseason not have Pitt as even a play-in team, nor first 4 out, or even 2nd 4 out tells me we have, in fact, like mini me’s big other, lost our MOJO!!!
Nor with the current group of returnees.
More stiffs doesn’t equate to getting better.
Just more of a chance to micro-manage the stiffs.
Which put Pitt in the lower half of the conf.
As I posted yesterday, we will be lucky to finish in the upper half of the conf.
More than likely it will be 9th or below.
Those preseason rankings have proven to be so reliable. I think Pitt ended up on the wrong end of one just last year in that they were supposed to be in the top half of the ACC and in the tourney. However I don’t care enough to check.
It does however serve Emel’s agenda. He’s great at self serving.
The rep did mention about others getting the $135 plan so they would be able to request PSU tix on their own.
Actually barfo we were on this BEFORE Lunardi came out with his stuff.
My only agenda is not seeing Pitt basketball continue to regress.
It was the only thing that got us thru plenty of years after yet another year of agony in football.
Don’t know if I can handle year round agony at this point.
And losing bigtime football recruits in PA to Pedo State is not as devastating as losing them to Pedo State in hoops.
If only because there are only 12 players on a basketball team that seen any action.
Sorry that is news ! If it effected your love affair with Jaime. Too bad.
H2P
I get physically ill thinking about losing that game and hearing 20K yelling chanting We Are…in our own digs.
Still remember my man Walt leaping into an assistants arm after the 2000 game…
The news just keep getting worse.
The news just keep getting worse.
He was the ONLY real(4 year) recruit we had.

ACC Power Rankings: UNC, Virginia, Miami, Duke, Louisville, ND, NC State, FSU, Syracuse, VT, GT, Clemson, Pitt, Wake Forest, BC.
3rd from the bottom.
I fixed your post.
I get physically ill thinking about losing that game and hearing 40K yelling chanting We Areโฆin our own digs.
I understand logistically for a lot of fans. Including many on here
For many fans , logistically attending more than a game or 2, it isn’t possible. But for Pitt fans in western PA, it is time to step up and show we are happy and behind this new leadership group, and put asses in seats. We really can make a difference. A better atmosphere at Heinz, will absolutely help recruiting. More than 10,0000 Nitters on Sept 10th 2016 is unacceptable.
I guess we owed Akron a game in a 2-1 agreement? Most if not all Power 5 schools get 7 home games, Pitt only gets 6 this year. Also don’t schools generally get 2 off weeks? I’m only seeing one, between the Akron and Iowa game. Not the easiest schedule for a 1st time head coach.
4-0 heading into homecoming against the Hoo’s October 10th would be phenomenal. Very unlikely, I think most of us would be happy with 3-1. 2-2, not so much. 1-3 is possible(borderline disaster). Need to win to show recruits this a program trending up. Class of ’16 and ’17 in WPIAL are loaded. Duzz and co need to land their share.
Hail to Pitt!! P-e-n-n S-t sucks!!!!
Give their fans credit, willing to buy season tickets from Pitt this year just to have a seat for the game next year. Are there any Pitt Fans that would do that?
Come on DK, was your man a superstar PG in high school? He can save football and basketball. Long, pinpoint passes on the fast break. ๐
Will still go to most football games can always scalp a ticket and find Pitt fans to sit with.
Most of those tickets bought by PSU fans will end up back in Pitt fans hands anyways thru stub hub.
1) He (and his assistants) can’t recruit….at all. Especially given the facilities, the great Pittsburgh area and the great education that he can offer recruits. And don’t tell me it’s travel money. He can’t even get the locals.
2) Given the choice of watching a Pitt BB game and watching Oprah get a colonoscopy, I’d have to flip a coin.
3) If by some reason (read: miracle) Pitt gets to the NCAA’s it’s a pretty sure bet we will get trounced in round 1 or 2. (The days of high seeds are over BTW. see #1)
4) Watching Dixon slide up and down the sidelines like a nutcase makes me dizzy….
5) Dixon’s style of recruiting stiffs who stay 4 years so he has physical men in their junior/senior years who can beat up on the frosh boy wonders of teams who can actually recruit, are over in this ACC. This was the only reason he was successful in years past.
Tossing mentioned that Dixon can coach. Does he know the X’s & O’s? Sure…..but he can’t get the Jimmies & Joes. He used to get the occasional 4 star PG or PF, but it seems now that Dixon is kryptonite to good HS players out there.
Tossing is right though, getting rid of Dixon while Nordy & Cyanide were here would have been a disaster. What will move the new power structure though will be fan support, or lack thereof, at the Pete. Last year I have to say was not a good sign in that reguard IMO.
โI think people do misunderstand me, but I couldn’t care less,โ said Rowan, who spent his junior year at Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons. โI’m going to go out and try to prove them wrong. People don’t understand what’s going on because it’s not a basketball town.โ Ouch…
โPitt wasn’t the greatest fit for me; N.C. State was,โ Rowan said. โSometimes, I don’t think I would have fit well in Jamie Dixon’s offense, the system he runs. I can go to N.C. State and play the wing spot, win some games and, hopefully, a national championship.โ Double ouch…
โI’d put it this way,โ he said. โI’d rather play in the NCAA Tournament than the McDonald’s game.โ Think these guys don’t know about Dixon in the NCAA’s?
Under Barnes, replacing Dixon isn’t as lofty as it once seemed. As I’ve said though, everything we want from football, Dixon has done with Pitt basketball. Number 1 seeds, Number 1 rankings, beating Number 1 teams. He’s a Scotty Reynolds miracle from OT to go to the Final 4.
Pitt basketball was better with Jeff Long at AD. Pitt basketball was worse with SP at AD. Pitt football was better with Jeff Long at AD. Pitt football was worse with SP at AD. See the trend here …
Dixon has earned a shot to work with Barnes. He’ll have this year and next year to prove himself. Both will be tourney years BTW but I don’t think that saves him. He’ll have to show he’s making strides in the program. The bar will be higher than NCAA tournament births.
I think only Smoke is safe on the current staff. It’s gonna get blown up this offseason. Win or lose, there will be major changes.
You don’t like his style or coaching philosophy – I get that. I’m not a fan of how sabremetrics are taking over sports and Dixon was an early adapter in college basketball. It takes away from the game … in all sports. I like individuality and stars. Sabremetrics is in direct conflict with both.
As much as I don’t like it though, it tends to work.
Then our new Pitt cheer whilst exiting Heinz Field can be screamed in unison, “You Are,,,,,,Losers,,,,,,,Again”!
Until then let’s just continue to enjoy 12-0. Hail to Pitt!
Too Bad he’ll be Lonnnnnng-Gonnnnne by the time we play them!
So —– with camp less than a week away: Chad Voytik / Adam Bertke / Ben DiNucci — who is OUR QB? lol
Plus that will be year two of Nard Dogg, which will be better than year one. You’ll see.
I missed where you told me I was bothering lol so obviously I kept-on doing it.
As a fellow-person who does not “Hand-the-Mantle” to “The Shrimp” (I.E. Tino Sunseri 0.95 hahaha) lol I do not wish to offend you — hahahaha
You are on the money about PSU fans VS. Mountaineer fans. And anyone that says to play WVU just don’t go to Morgantown is full of it. Pitt fans should be able to attend that game to root on our Panthers, why make Morganhole home field advantage even a bigger asset to WVU. I didn’t even feel safe in Pittsburgh when the Mounties came to town.
PSU didn’t like us either but they were civil.
We Pitt people knew that long before it indeed became a reality !
If you’re driving, I can navigate. lol
Pitt’s a city school so it’s different.
In regards to PSU, I went to a Michigan PSU game in the late 90’s and saw a car get torched. College fans in college towns go nuts. WVU fans = PSU fans except torching couches has become a tradition at WVU. That’s done away from where any opposing fan would be or should be. They leave other schools fans alone.
The players on the field have their attention. WVU fans do not treat opposing teams very well, I’ll grant you that, but they don’t bother the fans in the stands. Just remember you’re in their house and be respectful.
Just wondering if your 6’5″ tall and packing 300+ pounds as maybe the reason you’ve avoided conflict in Morgantown, or perhaps you’re missing some front teeth and they just considering you family from the big city?
I’ve been to games several times. It’s been no different than PSU games. There’s more PSU fans at a game so I’d actually feel less safe there.
One was the game where Marino didn’t play. Think Dan Daniels was the QB that game.
We didn’t encounter any problems. Of course there were 4 or 5 of us I believe. And I’m kinda mean looking ala Dirty Harry. ๐
Between 1971 until 1994 every time Pitt went to Morganhole for football I was there. I live less than an hour from Morganhole. Two consecutive trips to Morganhole resulted in damage to my buddy’s truck with a hammer job all the way around the fenders of his truck and a broken windshield. Upset we chalked it up to an isolated incident. The next time Pitt headed back to Morganhole we went back this time in my vehicle only to be physically threatened upon leaving the stadium, and finding my windshield had been shattered and car spray painted because I had a Pitt bumper sticker. I’m not physically a big guy and I don’t drink so I didn’t do anything to provoke these actions. I go thousands of miles to watch Pitt road games and I fear for my life to travel 40 miles to Morganhole for a Pitt game. WVU does not deserve to ever be on Pitt’s schedule for anything. Beg all you want WVU !
are they still considered brother and sister??
