ACC Returnees in Career Starts
Pitt senior CB Lafayette Pitts leads all returning ACC players in numbers of career starts. Pitts has started 38 games in his career for the Panthers, one more than
Florida State senior linebacker Terrance Smith, who hasmade 37 starts.
ACC Returnees, Career Starts, All Positions
Pl. Name, School, Position ………………………Starts
1. Lafayette Pitts, Pitt, Sr., CB ……………………..38
2. TerranceSmith, Louisville, Sr., G …………….38
3. J.P. Holtz, Pitt, Sr., TE ……………………………..36
Place was mostly empty. Camera crew was trying to hide that fact. All low angle stuff with no wide pans to show all the empties.
I’m only interested in Pitt picking up their game.
Pitt & Syracuse are never real good at the same time.
So they have to remain down.
So f*ck them too. They sort of took our rightful place (historical wise) among the nations elite football schools.
If Bernie Kozar of Youngstown, comes to Pitt instead of going to Miami…well….hate to think about.
But that might have been the start of a great line of QB’s at Pitt. Marino, Kozar, …..
Regarding Miami, after Schnellenberger who turned them around they got Jimmy Johnson, turned their back on academics and recruited great athletes from the Miami Area.
The amazing thing was that Florida supplies enough players for championships at Miami, Florida State and Florida. It also exports many great players.
I did better than I thought helping put up a balcony with my Uncle in Cape May. I’d love to meet some Blatherites in the fall.
Hopefully, recruiting has some victories, our men get in fantastic shape over the summer, the freshmen are better than expected in fall camp and we get a full house for Youngstown St.
If the major unknown is answered and Narduzzi turns out to be a superstar game day coach, Pitt will rise from the mediocre to the sublime.
What will the blathering have to complain about?
Trailing ONLY football maniac schools, Clemson & FSU.
And a team that has had much more recent success than Pitt and has a very dynamic mktg. program(they cheat alot), L-Ville.
So that is not bad considering all the turmoil and frustration that has surrounded Pitt football….for say….32 years.
Nope, no baseball game in Baton Rouge. LSU was on the road.
Saw some people if not comparing, mentioning in the same breath Ohio State had 90K and someone
else had 60K.
There is no point to that. It’s not even apples to oranges, it’s apples to a china closet.
The thing to compare or gauge is how was this Pitt spring to past spring games??
From everything I’ve heard, the buzz was fantastic, a great venue, a great weather day and really fun for everyone.
Maybe someday we’ll get 10K at Heinz Field.
Comparing it to OSU getting 90K, you might as well be bangin’ your head against a brick wall.
Even if we went undefeated and won a couple national championships, we ain’t gettin’ 50K to a spring game. We don’t have the numbers in the fan base.
So, for some to keep comparing that, they will continually end up disappointed.
Trailing only USC & Oregon State.
Our fan base is more similar to a USC or UCLA than the zombies at Pedo State or Ohio Fake, or the yahoos in the SEC.
We just have the unfortunate circumstances of being between two of the most moronic, overindulged, willing to look past anything, zombified college fan herds in America.
So we have to hear all about their neuroses on an almost daily basis.
The Hoopie’s fans are more psychotic than neurotic.
Hope that clears things up !
It is harder to get into despite the cost.
It reminds me of Pitt in the 60’s.
Which is safer, a couch or a sheep?
H2P
I like your plain and simple statements.
You get right to the point.
Since the Post-Gazette & Trib are both struggling to stay above water, like most dinosaur newspapers, UPMC should just buy the rags. For they, like Pitt itself seem to be under constant attack from the Pedo’s who influence and seem to hold sway on both rags.
I think Jamie will snag a serviceable graduate transfer to come off the bench for next season. I’m hoping for two – one big man and one shooting guard. The problem in the past is they (any transfer) never seem to adapt to our system of play. Two examples are Trey Zeigler and Jeter. The later still has a chance to fit in and contribute consistently. Jeter showed flashes of being a good player, but the performances were widely inconsistent.
@ JR – I didn’t think my comments yesterday morning were hateful towards Pitt BB nor Jamie – and same with this morning.
Concerned – yes. Hateful – no need. It’s college basketball and I want Pitt to be competitive and entertaining (winning is entertaining). We pay Jamie a nice wage to lead in both areas.
Like our FB team, if you win the fans will support and attend games – not always, but it is a great starting point. Marketing and recruiting help to fill seats as well after the winning takes hold.
Let’s get the buzz back for our BB team. I believe it has to start with the leader – Jamie Dixon. Show us what the money can do…
HTP!
Just saying – seems legal and within the rules. I’m sure there are contracts in place with our current shoe supplier/sponsor – but I’m sure it has an end date that if communicated & negotiated well, could help in our recruiting efforts for Maverick.
One of the 2016 recruits supposedly considering Pitt is 4-star 6’3 PG Temple Gibbs, younger brother of Ashton. There has been little mention here of him and don’t know how serious he is about Pitt or anyone else.
I do know that why he is not the alleged talent Heron is, he would be a very welcome addition here … to succeed JR and team with Damon Wilson in the backcourt.
As far as transfers … Pitt has been going after an experienced shooting guard, and has hosted a in the past week. In the past, I would be confident that JD would snag one of these, but now I just don’t know.

The sports writers are lazy and either have no ambition to move to a better paper or lack the talent to do so. Therefore they know they will retire in the exact same place they are in now regardless of effort. So why try? Keep the hoopies happy so you’ll sell a few papers in WVa. Kowtow to the mid-state zombies who will buy your crap no matter what.
In all honesty, Pitt hasn’t given them much to be positive about in the last 30 years in any sport.
I have no interest in their drivel.
Further, all of the Pgh professional teams have been more successful than Pitt over the past few decades. The only beef we Pitt fans have is why PSU appears to get referential treatment many times in both papers.
in between are the Doors.

Pitt’s James Conner Enjoys One of Best Rushing Years in ACC History Pitt sophomore RB James Conner had quite a “run” as the Panthers starting running back in 2014.
