Not quite VT. Almost, but not quite.
The Louisville Chris Jones was suspended, reinstated and then booted off the Cardinals Sunday. Rick Pitino said he would have nothing more to say on the matter. I’m guessing he won’t be able to play that card very well in light of the news.
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of former University of Louisville basketball player Chris Jones on charges of raping one woman and sodomizing another.
The warrant, obtained by University of Louisville police, was signed Wednesday by Jefferson District Judge Katie King.
The warrant says that one of the women was hospitalized Sunday and able to identify Jones as her assailant. One of the women is 19 and the other 20, according to the warrant.
Ugh.
I am in awe over what Olivier Hanlan for BC has been doing. It wasn’t simply three 30+ point scoring games in the last four outings. It was that they played 4 games in 8 days, with a double overtime in one of them. 170 minutes of possible action and Hanlan was on the court for 165 of them. 122 total points in those four games.
Absurd burst of offense from a Florida State basketball player? Inconceivable!
It looked pretty good for the Hurricanes, who went up 18 points with five minutes remaining.
And then a freshman guard from Canada put on one of the greatest performances witnessed by anyone in attendance: two coaches in their mid-60s, a pair of basketball teams, media members young and old and 5,857 stunned, exhilarated fans.
His name was Xavier Rathan-Mayes, and he could not miss.
Rathan-Mayes scored an astounding 26 consecutive points in three minutes, 35 seconds, hitting eight shots – six of them three-pointers – and four free throws.
He single-handedly chopped an 18-point UM lead to three points before he finally missed a shot. The Hurricanes needed to foul him and sink 7-of-8 free throws in the final 30 seconds to escape with an 81-77 win.
Pitt ends the season at FSU. Might want to study some tape on him.
Teams to root against tonight (in bold):
Houston-Temple
Rutgers-Purdue
Long Beach St– Hawaii
Minnesota-Michigan St.
BYU-Portland
Again Pitino is a whore and a hypocrite.
Used the kid to beat Miami. Pitt
fans should be please that JD recruits
good people. Always remember the
Willard days; coincidentally Willard
was a little Ricky disciple.
H2P
They will either come out on Sunday totally disilluisoned or with extreme determination. I think it’s essential that Pitt gets out the blocks quickly.
fire and brimstone to get them up. Hopefully
they’re beat down.
We better be playing full throttle.
I posted the 1968 Rose Bowl game the other week and it was like it was played on a different planet.
The graduation rate for players under Denny Crum has been called “troubling” by some sources.[7] Basketball players enrolling at U of L between the 1988-89 and 1997-98 had a 27% graduation rate as measured by the NCAA, well under the Division 1 average of 44%.
Can you imagine what his graduation rate was in the 1970’s. Probably no one graduated. lol
Crum coached the 1977 USA World University Team, where he won a gold medal. In 1987, he coached the Pan American team to a silver medal.
My apologies. For some reason I thought Louisville had religious ties.
I’m not a religious person but I do think since religion has been removed from public education, that public education as a whole and society as a whole has greatly deteriorated.
Louisville
Memphis State
Florida State
Come to mind. That’s why I really didn’t want Pitt hiring that Fuentes guy from Memphis. Their lack of academic integrity has been under question for decades, same as Louisville. And for that regard….Florida State.
Thanks for sharing. The is a pretty good list. All been around about the same time as Dixon. All I consider very high quality coaches. Puts things in perspective…getting to final four is a really hard thing to do and takes, sometimes, time. Some people have this deep, deep need to find something PARTICULAR about Dixon that is making him incapable of getting there. BS…I repeat B…S…There are so many variables…matchups, how hot a team plays, etc. Its college basketball, the most upset heavy sport there is. Sometimes it takes more time than you want for it to happen. The next two years wil be very telling, but if Dixon turns it around, he deserves as much time as these other coaches deserve.
Should be a fun time.

Reed? iambic pentameter
Sounded very intelligent but not quite “right”
🙂
Pitt is not the only school that has struggled to hire good coaches.
I’m thankful for Jamie, even though I personally think HE can do better with recruiting. I’m feeling good with HCPN and I’m expecting a lot with FB. 6-6 won’t get my ticket money ever again.
5 Young, Nix, Haughton
4 Artis, Young, Jeter, Luther
3 Jeter, Jones, Johnson, Artis, Heron?
2 Johnson, Jones, Wilson, Heron?
1 Newkirk, Wilson,
This could be Dixon’s kind of tough, strong, versatile and veteran team. odds are that at least half of the seniors will develop into really good, borderline NBA guys, like Patterson and Zanna. Who knows.
Joe Lunardi said that Pitt still has some work to do, but “they are knocking on the door.” Their RPi is a “An outlier on the high side. The committee has gotten very very good at recognizing these anomolies.” Meaning they have caught on to Jamie’s strategy to play “good” mid majors to game the RPI.
“Pitt needs another quality road win.” They only have two road wins all year. They only play two more road games, Wake and FSU. Wake seems to be an easier game. But they probably need both. I think a loss tomorrow would put Pitt on life support, but not quite dead.
Would love to see Pitt’s guards step up tomorrow. Newkirk could be the man if Dixon will give him a chance.
