Sorry, literally and figuratively buried the last two days with work and snow. Oh, so much snow. Way too early.
Season opener. The game is on your computer at ESPN3.com starting at 7pm.
Pitt faces a Niagara team that was not very good last year. This is probably good, as Pitt’s defense has been suspect in the first couple of exhibition games. Not having Cameron Wright available has the perimeter D a bit weak. Much to Coach Jamie Dixon’s chagrin.
UPDATE [6:29]: Just finished a quick dinner, and this is a kick in the head. Durand Johnson has been suspended for the entire season. Still with the team. No reason given. Yeesh.
Watching @OaklandZoo look at their phones, can tell they're reading about Johnson on their twitter feed and OMGing each other

Joe luvs us (not)
I wrote that first post before seeing the Durand Durand bad news.
ACC bottom half is still so bad. Although I’m sure VT which almost beat us last year as a bottom feeder, will now become a very tough team for us to beat, with Buzz Williams. Who has Dixon down pretty pat.
niagara is the perfect rent-a-guest-win
Their press is somewhat bothering us. Yea hard to believe.
Would be nice to see some trap defense in the 2nd half, just to practice it in a live game.
but yea lots of nickle & dime calls on pitt
Some in the crowd wearing it though.
Niagara…..Falls…. to Pitt.
They kept talking about how fast (quickest team ever)these guys are. Not so sure they will be that quick in conference play.
Randall looks more at home this year. He will help us. Artis has really improved. Bench looks strong. Lots of good rebounding by a bunch of the players.
I know Chas likes talking about BB over Football at this time. Me too!
OPG, it looks like anyone who can score will get minutes with DD out.
Lehigh is tied with Nova…
I think losing him this year hurts less than it did last year.
Uchebo looked considerably less gimpy than last year. If he and Randall can give us minutes with rebounds and a few points we will be all right.
When Wright comes back we will have four good guards, we have never been that deep.
He said even the a couple who may be redshirted (C Johnson and Luther) have value. This was before he knew of DJ … which could mean Cam Johnson may not redshirt (my thought not his).
From what I read and what I saw briefly last night, Cam Johnson may turn out to be the most pleasant surprise we have seen here since Jaron Brown .. and even more from a scoring viewpoint. Looks like he needs to get stronger and better defensively, but what a sweet stroke!
Yes, we’re not as good without DJ but if there was ever a time we could overcome this, it would be this year.
