I kind of miss Ron Everhart. Oh, sure there was a certain level of sleaze on him. But, at least he put together teams who at least challenged Pitt and were not a threat to Pitt’s non-con strength of schedule.
Presently the old Stage Magicians are at 2-2. They lost a game to West Virginia and New Hampshire (from the American East conference and presently 2-3… so, not a good loss).
The game is at 1pm on CBS Sports channel. Hopefully you have it on your tv package.
He still disappears every close or big game. No natural ablity at all and is getting murdered on the boards.
I know we all love the freshman, Young. But if anyone had a crappy first half it was him. Soko is a lot tougher. First game I attended at Greentree this summer it was Soko v Young. I hadn’t seen Young yet and my first impression wasn’t great. Soko was much bigger, stronger, faster, and more aggressive. But the more I watched of Young, the more I liked him.
Too much talent in the end. They never gave in.
We distributed the ball well and rebounded when we had to. We disappeared for a moment there-that is something that they need to learn from. Pitt got punched in the mouth and we didn’t like it. That shows fighting spirit to shrug it off and keep driving.
Nonetheless, good thing the Dukes were terrible from the stripe or it would gotten a little too interesting
The snob Suckeyes pick and choose what Ohio teams they want to play in BB and it’s always in Columbus. They won’t play UC. Cowards.
I don’t think CBS does replays like ESPN. Not sure if it will be available anywhere.
They made us play yesterday.
JR had another poor day driving to the hoop. Not sure whether he should keep trying of take that out of the repertoire for a while. He just doesn’t seem to be able to finish.
One guy that has learned to finish is Wright, some very pretty stuff. I said last year he was starting to remind me of Wannamaker. Great defender, goes to the hoop, shot improving.
Young looks a little frustrated offensively, needs to know how important his role as a rebounder and defender is and embrace it, the scoring will come next year. Same with Randall, don’t force the shot, throw it back to the guards.
Artis is the nicest surprise on the team, didn’t think he was supposed to be this good.
Love the foul shooting.
The complaints about the schedule are getting tiresome. As a consistently Top 25 program, there’s only so many games that aren’t potentially “no-win.” So, play the locals for fan interest, try to get into a decent tournament, and do your best to at least get some “cupcakes” in that aren’t total RPI crushers. It’s the same for everyone. Look at Duke — they got into the “Champions Classic” because they’re Duke, they played in the exact same tourney as Pitt last year (NIT), and then there’s a lot of Vermont, UNC Asheville, Elon, etc. Trust me, as a season ticket holder I’m not anxiously looking ahead to Savannah St, etc. each season. But it happens everywhere. Hopefully Pitt gets a good run out of its Maui trip next year.
Lots of whining but no solutions.
But don’t play this game over Thanksgiving weekend when both student bodies are absent. The best part of the game (competing student sections) was missing yesterday which was a shame considering how close the score was for 3/4’s of the game.
