Dammit, I’m going to shoe-horn in the bad puns while I still can.
The formality that was supposed to be DeAndre Kane’s transfer to Pitt for as a graduate transfer, now is not.
However, the 6-foot-4 guard, a Pittsburgh native, did not wind up pulling the trigger, whether it was due to the fact that Panthers coach Jamie Dixon was non-committal about taking him at the time, or whether Kane just wasn’t enamored with the visit.
Now Kane told CBSSports.com that he is still open, with both Pittsburgh still under consideration and Memphis also in pursuit.
From my own perspective, I’m not exactly broken up by the possibility that Kane may not be coming to Pitt.
The thing everyone wants to know is why. Did Kane not hear the sweet nothings of assurances of how much he will be featured? Was it that Dixon started to review what went down in Huntington, WV and get a little nervous. Did Memphis make a really strong push that made Kane reconsider? Some of this? All of this? None of this?
The one thing that doesn’t add up with Memphis are the minutes. Memphis has a deep and experienced backcourt in place for the upcoming season. Kane would not be a lock to average big minutes with the Tigers. Pitt has bodies in the backcourt but not a lot of experience. Especially with J.J. Moore’s ever-impending departure. Kane seems a lock to get more minutes at Pitt compared to Memphis. That is unless Pitt is the one that started having second thoughts about Kane rather than the other way around.
It is somewhat amusing that the first school he visited and rejected was USC. Now his top two choices are playing for two coaches that got nice salary raises and extensions from USC’s interest in Josh Pastner and Jamie Dixon. And the circle of life continues.
I looked at it from the perspective of Dixon adding a body for practice.
However, Kane could cause problems in the locker room if he is not getting his minutes, etc.
Jeter is a better fit albeit he is a SF.
Lets defer to the coach on this one. He
knows this guy very well.
pretty good deal, Pitt apparently don’t have to win the prelim games at the Pete on 11/17 and 11/21 to go to Brooklyn
For the last few weeks, numerous media made it sound like Pitt had contact with Jeter before he was granted transfer.
That is tampering.
benzene… it is in the PG.

I’m not afraid of the “cancer” possibility, as Kane is a one year fix, will be on a short leash, and can be cut anytime he steps out of line since he’s only got one year and he’s not preventing a “better” player from getting a scholarship.
If JD wants Kane but isn’t Able (ugh!!) to land him, then this is another indictment of JD’s recruiting especially if he goes to Memphis and gets very little PT.
Not disagreeing with you, I’ve bitched as much as anyone about Pitt’s non-con.
I’m mostly concerned with the 10 or so games at the Pete.
The fans DO deserve to be thrown a bone. Pay for the seats, pay for souvenirs, parking, food….
we are in fact, The Customer.
Is it any of our business who they should bring in, how to do it, who to call, absolutely not, we shouldn’t have a say in that aspect.
We should be given one or two games that have at least some interest and flavor from another BCS conference or national name from a non BCS.
I don’t care who you bring in, but 10 games against Milquetoast State and Pansy Northern is ridiculous.
KANE: I don’t know enough to comment, from what people have said on the Blather, seems like a malcontent. As TaxMat says though, would be 1 year and short leash. Leave it up to the coach.
That is false. A LOT of them do it, not all.
There are some teams that do home and homes.
I know about the money too, having all the home games blah, blah, blah.
You’re gonna start getting 20M a year, bring in someone besides Savannah State for cryin’ out loud.
They did bring in someone besides Savannah State last year. What….you didn’t enjoy Bethune-Cookman or Kennesaw State ? 🙂
“Jeter has several options to deal with the situation. He can appeal to the Vanderbilt athletics department to overturn coach Kevin Stallings’ ruling. He can enroll at Pitt and pay tuition for one year before being put on scholarship. Or he can transfer to a school other than Pitt.”
Meaning, if there’s a will, there’s a way !
well at least I hope he’s not blocking him from going to Geneva (I guess)
Maybe we can find a sick relative for Sheldon.
😉
The campus looked great, very lush shrubs now border the Cathedral’s lush lawn. Our campus looks better now than it EVER HAS !
With everything PITT has going for it, it should be easy to recruit top talent to. All you need now is PITT men to do it !
Hail to Pitt !
would have to sit out a year even jeter but now he is blocked.
we only have 10 players for next year and if cam
goes 9 so to put kane on hold is dumb.
plus kane would be here for just one year.
so i am going to say dixon did not put the hold on kane he cant be that dumb.
it must be kane and if not to bad for pitt
becuse players are not in line to come here.
take jeter i have no problem with his coach blocking pitt.
but if they are full . i do becuse penn state is to
far for a kid that wants to be close to home.
and bobby mo is to much of a step down for a player like jeter.
Also he played 90% of the season with a jammed thumb. For those that think he had “hands of stone”. Try catching a pass with a jammed thumb.
Shame on you ! lol
“Steven Adams – Adams looked like a different player than the one we analyzed on film a few weeks ago, as he showed a higher skill-level than expected and was not tentative or calculated in the least bit. Adams had a tendency to overthink things in his one year in college and looked very mechanical for the most part offensively, but that really wasn’t the case here in Chicago. His hands looked much better, as he didn’t bobble the ball even once on any of his catches, which was a major issue for him as a freshman. He shot the ball relatively well from the perimeter and put in great effort on both ends of the floor, which goes a long ways considering how impressive a physical specimen he is. Adams has a terrific frame and a near 7-5 wingspan and can run and jump with the best of them, so NBA scouts were definitely paying attention to how much further along he looked offensively in the drills. How much this really means in the grand scheme of things is still very much up for debate, as he still appears to be a few years away from contributing, but Adams did a nice job of increasing his popularity among scouts with the work he put in, and then complimented that by reportedly interviewing extremely well off the court too.”

It took 3 years and a threatened transfer to Kansas State until JD took the reigns off Sam Young.
As of right now, Patterson will be counted on heavily next year to score from the 3 (SF).
Now as we all know, this year he crucial situations he was a “shrinking violet”.
Zanna is mostly a “shinking violet” as soon as conference play begins. So just who (presuming Moore is a goner) is going to be counted on to score ?
The rest are unproven commodities.
are not that good at least most that post on here
say they are less then good.
so next year we have a hope and a prayer.
and not much else .
what bobby mo plays in plus if you go to say
NY they know who Duquesne is they would not no who robert bobby mo is most would not any way.
plus the dukes are on the up swing next year.
but you are right i do some what live in the past.
i like bobby mo dont get me wrong but if some said what school did you go to i would rather say
duquesne then Rodert M
RT @UN_Lincoln: @TheHawk_3 Dominic Woodson just decommitted from Baylor. You should recruit him to help you out at Nebraska!
Pitt should send out Slice …on a mission !!!
Immediately
Coast 2 Coast Hoops @Coast2CoastHoop 53m
Florida, UConn, UCLA, Purdue, Bama, Cincy, Charlotte, URI, Pitt, Marshall, Memphis, Nebraska, Texas & Oklahoma have called Dominic Woodson.
If Josh Pastner (of Memphis) somehow adds Deandre Kane and Dominic Woodson…sheesh..kudos.
Oy Vey !
that pitt should look at Lasan Kromal SG from
GW a transfer who could play this year as far
as i know pitt never gave him a call or look
he is on his way to U Conn if he is good enough to play for them he should have been good enough
for us.
my point is a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush
or if you snooze you lose.
all this waiting for kane and he might not come and jeter is bloked and players who are as good or allmost as good are signing some were else.
i just dont get it.
If he was good enough for Uconn, he’s most assuridely good enough for us.
We seem to be a little slow out of the gate.
Football is like molasses out of the gate.
Yikes !
need him they already have signed for 2013
four 4 stars and one 5 star..
is that a great class or what.
but dixon would not know what to do with thoes
kind of players any way.
he is better off with the kind of 3 stars that can be coached up till he has them molded
to the way he wants them.
I understand, neither did NC State need Leonard Freeman. Neither team can offer many minutes for these kids, yet they’re still plucking them away from PITT. Worse Memphis U. is a real sh*thole.
adams has shocked the nba gms his skill level is much better then thay thought
the pitt system kept it hidden and the role in the system kept them from seeing how good he really was
i fill cheated that i did not see adams play his game at pitt.
go on line look this stuff up it is out there
adams was not used right at pitt
did dixons system hold adams back
go look it all up then tell me dixon knows what to do with a 5 star player.
even sperit of section 22 says i am right and dixon is better with his kind of player and he hates me.
look all this up it is out there on the wed after they saw what asams gould do they moved him up from say pick 28 to a top 10 he was hidden at pitt
used wrong read this stuff before you get on me.
Sam Young was limited in Pitt’s system for his first 2 years. Playing behind Levon Kendall, lol.
First time I saw Sam Young play as a freshman against South Carolina in Columbia, SC., as soon as he came in off the bench he immediately changed the whole flow of the game and Pitt’s fortunes in the game. The USC ppl around me, were like; “Who is this guy”.
Players can be limited, and it is non-sensical to suggest otherwise. imo
And had Sam transferred, no way we get close, to even sniffing that Elite 8 appearance.
posts like you all do when you want some one to read them.
or what ever you call it.
there are at least 10 storys out there on adams
at the combine
like adams shocked gm with his game
could you post some of them on here please
i would have to type them word for word it would
be easy if i knew how to that but i dont.
get to 13 players for next year.
it gets hard to get there kane chages his mind
jeter blocked.
it is bad luck or a curse i dont know which.
hope you are right abought next year but we better have more then 10 players.
some times it does seam like a curse.
what bothers me most is that 5 of the 10 have not
played in a college basketball game you talk abought
a lack of experence.
I feel like a broken record, but Adams is not a good offensive player at this point in his development. If he wasn’t dunking on put-backs or in transition, he was firing bricks and air-balls from five feet away.
Once again, the NBA drafts big men on potential, not current skill level. Does Adams have the potential to be a good offensive player someday? Sure. Was he even remotely close to being the first or second option on a top 25 team as a 19 year-old? Not even close.
And please don’t tell me Dixon can’t coach talented players — that’s ridiculous. The same was said about Howland until he went to a traditional power and got great players. He then proceeded went to three straight final fours with rosters full of lottery picks.
If you want to beat on Dixon, blame him for not recruiting offensively talented players. He puts too much emphasis on defense and rebounding and not enough on scoring ability.
you are talking of the adams you saw at pitt and that is the point dixon did not use his skills read all the posts from combine then come back on here and say he has no offence game you wont do it.
i will clik on your post and fallow along.
he is to come for a vist.
but even if we get him he has to sit out a year.
so no help this year.
But, as I’m typically off topic these days.. (Wasn’t always the case case, incidentally.) Just wanted to ask @ ya, Chas:
Where’d the nice girl with thong go away to, anyway? Yeh, you know the one; beach bathing sl*t, black thong,.. the one I’m baited to @$!?&$@!!¿2 for money.. Her, yes, that one.
Who was the genius to pull that ad? Easy to market on a sports blog I should think. And it was a cheap thrill FCS..
C’mon, it’s the off-season.
HTP, of course .. Yeah
LOL
I do think we should go after the big man with everything we have. Glad to see the campus looking nice! Is steve p still our AD? He did great things for Nebraska. Also, someone commented that he was responsible for the Pete and for migrating Pitt to the ACC. The answer to both would be no, not really. These things happened in spite of him, not because of him.
