The non-con football schedule is complete. Pitt was already scheduled to play Villanova, ND and at Navy. A MAC or some other 1-A from the lower tier was expected. Turns out it isn’t a totally horrible opponent. The fourth non-con is another home game against the Lobos of New Mexico.
That means a seven-game home schedule in the first year of ACC play. There was already going to be excitement about that first year. With only one 1-AA team. No MAC (or Sun Belt) opponents. Notre Dame at home. Ticket sales for the 2013 season should be strong.
And I am fully aware that did not work so well against Utah . . . but there were a whole host of other problems that game!
assistant and Western Pa guy Bob Davies?
If so he probably wants to do some local
recruiting.
9 and 3 bank on it.
becuse i had high hopes and saw them dashed.
Am I that much of a simpleton?? Yes, yes I am.
I will look forward to game day much more with a New Mexico than Toledo or Bowling Green.
That’s just me. A pleasant suprise.
when anthony covington decommited from pitt
it must have been his grades becuse he just
commited to appalachian state no one
decommits from pitt and 10 outhet big time schools
for appalachian.
Makin’ pretty for an invite somewhere, someday.
I may not remember the score but I do remember Westbrook putting on a show.
@Jeff. I don’t think the conference schedule is out yet.
Allthough, someone on here posted a matrix he had of the ACC scheduling system, and posted to the best of his knowledge what our schedule would look like a couple of months ago. Can’t remember who or what post.
I think the ACC posts it after their winter meetings in Jan. sometime.

Actually Jeff, if I remember his matrix, I think NC ST may be next years other division game. I could very well be wrong.
That, is one hell of a schedule!!!!!!!
p.s. first 4 are OOC. Next 6 div games. Syracuse is our crossover div rival. Then one of the other 6 teams from the other division, rotating that annually.
8/31 Villanova ..9/14 New Mexico ..10/26 AT Navy…11/9 Notre Dame
Does anyone know what ACC we’ll start with at home..would be a heck of a home schedule if both VT and Miami came to Heinz Field next year.
Even if New Mexico blows, agree its nice to see a new team rather than a MAC. No knock on the MAC, just nice to branch out. I had initially seen Fla St as the wildcard crossover next year, not sure if any validity to that. Pretty excited for next year’s schedule, especially after enduring this year’s.
lists who he thinks the new pitt DC will be
there are 3 on his list.
1 kerry cooks i am starting to find that on a lot of outher places a ND blog for one .
2 teryl austin
3 tom bradley
i dont know who this pedro fave is but it was
something to do with dapper dan so i posted it.
Let’s hope he takes his talents to Oakland/Southside/North Shore
No football rivalry with Syracuse, so, ya, I would just rather play a rotating 2 of the 7.
Remember though, we will play another one of those 7 in the championship game!!!
I could go the rest of my Pitt football watching career with never seeing a MAC team again.
Bring on Cal St. San Luis Obispo!!!!!!!!
But it does make some good points. 1. Steelers won’t play at Heinz 4-ever.2. Other places suffer from parking and shuttle fans.
Here is my take.
If done it must be part of a larger project to include housing, commercial etc. Pitt’s small campus size means you have to master plan and expand the campus size. The hill district is the nearest option to existing facilities so prepare for political challenges by giving that residential area (only real grid of streets in Pgh) what it needs in terms of shopping and infrastructure…not the Penguins sitting around waiting.
The site must include a hotel.
The site must replace decay.
Students will have to walk to games.
It should be away from medical facilities to ensure safety for patients, family etc
South Oakland would work, but it will obviously require purchases.
In case no one has noticed, tailgating is being discouraged in lieu of property development.
At Ohio State (hold groans), alcohol is banned in parking lots. But their temperance extends only so far, as it is sold at an indoor tailgate at the Blackwell, an OSU property next to the stadium and at the Alumni facility.
If this is going to happen, then it must be part if a real master plan, not the promises (us yet totally unfulfilled in the Lower Hill by the penguins) of what might some day be. None of this if you build it they will come.
How about dorm rooms in the stadium as sort of a scholarship? Been done at other places!
The NJ Pitt Alumni Club is offering tickets for the basketball game against Rutgers in Piscataway which starts at 11:00 a.m. We purchased tickets at a group discount rate and are selling them at their face value of $25 per ticket. First come, first-served. All event proceeds benefit the Club’s endowed scholarship fund.
PLus, we have reserved the RU Zone, a spacious lounge area on the first floor of the Rutgers Livingston Student Center for the 1 pm bowl game watch and party. This venue is a 5 minute walk from the basketball arena. Big screen TVs, a buffet and beer/wine will be on hand.
Tickets are going fast. Here’s the order form:
Hail to Pitt!
Facilities could be shared with CMU, great concert venue, tailgaiting in lower lots or Schenley Park. Easy access to Oakland or Southside establishments.
Architectural design in a natural bowl could be spectacular and add to campus and community life.
Who said the world didn’t end?
We’re in heaven right now!
Overtop of Mazeroski Field (preserving the Outfield Wall. Frick Fine Arts may need some adjusting or moved. U-shaped stadium with the opening pointing directly at the Cathedral.
Schenley Fountain incorporated into the open field side. Playing field dropped about 25′ below Schenley Drive.
Boundary Road Parking lot removed and Boundary run along R/R. S. Bouquet extended down to Boundary St. Joncaire, Isis and Yarrow property purchased by Pitt and demolished for back end of stadium leaving Post Office, but taking everything south of it. Big Script Pitt on southeast wall facing Schenley Park and Schenley Drive (Panther Hollow Bridge).
Dropping the field 25′ provides fill for the southwest portion of the stadium area and allows for the creation of a tunnel entrance on the north side of the stadium for the band to enter for pre-game (and rock the underside of the seats) similar to Pitt Stadium.
If you look at the footprint (Google map) of the area, and slide over and look at the footprint of Heinz Field, you’ll see it will fit.
(I’m just an old Pitt engineer so I know nuttin” 🙂 )
You’re just a little off, actually the super model is expecting YOU to be cooking her dinner. (hope she is also your wife!)
Hey, I like it. Now, if you aren’t too possessive, give us a schematic design, distribute it here first, get ground support and we can get it done just like Sophie did.
BUT, one bit of advice. Aim high on the LEED chart: that will soothe political wounds and focus in the water flow.
