The wife and I don’t get many nights out without the kids. It just doesn’t happen. We don’t have family near us to watch the kids on the cheap. So any night out comes with an additional surcharge. When the opportunity does arise, unless there is a really good reason to say no you take it. Playing a 4-7 MEAC team is not a good enough reason not to take advantage.
The game is airing on ESPN3, so I’ll catch a replay later tonight.
I don’t know for sure, but I think he was a good recruiter. Dave Wannstedt’s staff did a pretty good job in that regard.
Would be an excellent hire and is available since Cristobal got fired at FIU. Was at UConn for 12 years and helped Randy Edsall build that program, and left as the DC.
This would be a good get !
My brother graduated from Arts and Sciences on Saturday. They had it in the Cathedral Commons Room. There were 8 rows of seats for the families and friends of a couple hundred graduates. My girlfriend and I had to watch from the the second floor. I thought Steve Pederson organized this event.
Second, as a diehard Buffalo Bills fan, Dave Wannestedt is clueless. Thank God we have Chyrst. The Wanny D let by 31 points to the Seahawks in less than a half and have broken several NFL records for sucking.
Surprisingly, we are still in the ESPN Top 25 Power Rankings, though we fell two spots.
Looks like we’ll have to win against Cincy to be considered for Top 25 ranking…maybe even a convincing win.
•Pittsburgh remains unranked yet again. The Panthers are underrated. I say this every week. I said it last week. I will say it again next week. And the week after that, too, if I have to. Doesn’t anyone notice this?! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills!
I think most people are just saying this looks like a traditional Jamie Dixon team.
But I’m sure that won’t stop you from trolling.
Troll.
Can’t wait for Pitt vs Cincy. Cincy hasn’t played anyone either yet they are ranked.
What matters most like several have said is the rank near the end of the season for tourney seeding and for the right to call yourself a champion.
The following is kind of hard to comprehend though.
We LOST 40 some votes lol. Why? cause we won by the largest margin of ANY team over the weekend. And yes 95% of all the Top teams played Rent-A-Win teams over the weekend. We are not doing anything anybody else isn’t doing and have done for many many years. Syracuse typically never leaves the friendly confines of the Carrier Dump BEFORE January. And against a sordid bunch of weaklings to boot. It never keeps them OUT of the rankings though. Same with a lot of these teams. Not our fault, we got paired against Delaware in the NIT.
If Michigan is #2 (and they received a couple #1 vctes) we should be somewhere in the Top 25, as that game we down to the final minute and there were many questionable calls against us.
Actual playing results trumps the rankings, everytime.
Still, it would have been nice to have beaten Michigan and therefore be getting some ranking recognition, just bragging rights during the season if nothing more.
BTW, regarding football recruiting, either Foster or Boyd committing would fulfill my Christmas list. Both of them ending up at Pitt and I’d start believing in Santa Claus again.
OSU is much the same as Kansas. Rankings are nothing more than the opinions of idiots.
Who are these morons that vote in the USA/ESPN poll ? The ESPN studio nitwits. 🙂
As I’ve explained before, Pitt will move up much higher in the rankings if they are already in it, when we beat #11 Cincy rather than just squeezing in. Just like what happened to Butler in this USA/ESPN poll today and I talk about above.
Had Butler already been ranked like say #20 or so, they’d be right on the doorstep of the Top 10 now after beating #1 Indiana. In USA/ESPN’s mind there huge win over IU ONLY merited putting them in at #25. That’s the difference if your ranked when you beat a top team.
Also if they lose now in an upset, they’re right back out of the Top 25. Had they been up around the Top 10, they would only lose a few spots.
Huge difference. Everything matters. Especially with PITT !
Now if they can only fix college football…
First fix would be eliminate rankings until at least after the 3rd game of the season.
Just click it on and let it load itself. Please don’t post atdhenet links on public sites.
Also I just listened to Andy Katz on an ESPN podcast with Mike Brey and Dixon – very interesting stuff.
My copying is poor – old age
Birch in on the bench as the #4 big man on the team.
Usually people say we’re negative!!!
As Denny said, you must not be checking into the Blather as often.
Most people have been ticked about the non-con schedule.
However, after doing the research, other than a few teams here and there, Pitt is doing the same thing everyone is now. Budgets are tight, can’t afford to lose a home game.
Hey, I’m one the ones that thinks the fans should get thrown a bone, however, after looking into it, yes, pretty much everyone doing the same thing.
The only difference, Dixon is trying to get the cupcakes that may win their conference and get into the NCAA’s.
As for Pitt and the top 25. Actually some good points have been given that Pitt should be in their.
They have just as much being in there than a lot of the other teams, that, by the way, have played cream puff schedules also.
There are also points, why we shouldn’t, that are understood also. We had a crappy season last year, and it’s going to take a some wins in conference to get in.
I personally don’t worry about it, go 26-7 or 25-8 and the rest will take care of itself.
Not attacking you either. Just noticed your use of the word sychophant, and realized how out of place and misused it is in regards to PittBlather commenters.
Have a great day!!
Or if you like this one better:

I need to scroll up to see how this was used. lol

Well Pitt’s RPI ranking is #54 (of 300 teams)so that sort of blows your theory out of the water there, Tony boy.
Now are you sure what sycophant means, because we don’t have many if any on here. We all call it the way we see it for the most part!
P.S. it’s gaudy btw 🙂
Pitt will be ranked soon enough…no need to rush. I predict Pitt will make it back to the Top Ten at sometime this season just like every season Dixon has been coach.
