Postion, Roster and Numbers

Filed under: Football — Chas @ 8:43 am

Taking a break from the Penn State scandal, and pausing before jumping into the scandal at another school that everyone is ignoring. Some little things on the football front.

First off, it appears that there will be an additional scholarship available for this year as redshirt freshman Justin Jackson has left the team. Good luck to Mr. Jackson, we hardly knew you.

There are position changes to report. Some are not surprising, some are.

Anthony Gonzalez may have already broken the Dorin Dickerson position switch record. He’s been at QB, TE/HB and this spring WR. Now he’s moving to Safety. He’s big and athletic enough for the position. Just hoping he has a spot that lasts beyond a semester.

EJ Banks, the transfer from ND who was originally a cornerback, but moved to quarterback and then running back (just in the spring practices). My money was on linebacker, but he zagged when I thought a zig and he is moving back to cornerback.

Brandon Sacco has his grades in order, but not his position. He’s changing sides of the ball. Moving from Center to Defensive Tackle.

The freshmen have gotten their uniform numbers. Key players:

Rushel Shell – 4

Chad Voytik – 16

JP Holtz – 86

Adam Bisnowaty – 69

Deaysean Rippy – 17

There are the sundry shift in numbers the players wear.

Shell has a big role to fill with that #4 – Andrew Janocko.

Looks like I have some roster editing to do on NCAA ’13 tonight.

Sweet.

The only position transfer Im interested in is Tino Sunseri transferring to the bench.

Sidebar – Stoosh what’s your take on NCAA 13? Is dynasty mode a significant upgrade from ’12? Any other noteworthy features? I’m on the fence.

Hey FRANKCAN how about putting in the transfer from Div.II Harding University, Kris Wildman on the defensive line to fill out that position? You just gotta love a kid who plays defense with a name like that! I can hear the PA announcer now, “that Wildman just sacked the ND quarterback for the third time this quarter, and this time he ripped off his head and spit down his neck stump. WHAT A WILDMAN! LOL!!

well, we do have Sack-o on the DL now

Now there’s a one two punchline for the DL if I ever heard one.

SIDEBAR II, Stoosh and Atlanta Panther. Haven’t moved forward to PS3. Played 2012 with my nephew, we couldn’t figure out how to change the camera angle. Or couldn’t you?? And, if you couldn’t, can you in 2013???

As for Shell, glad he didn’t choose #1, or maybe someone else has it?? Never liked a player taking the #1 in college, or pros for that matter.

Ray Graham has #1. That egotistical bum.

Comment by Chas 07.13.12 @ 11:36 am

SIDEBAR III – All I do is recruit. I haven’t played a live opponent in years. That being said maybe it’s time for form a Pitt Blather online dynasty. I’m on xbox360 … anybody else interested? The only rule is that you can’t be WVU.

Can that extra scholarship be used for the kid that had to try and commit to Temple because supposidly there were none available for him (or were there other issues)?

Comment by PanthEriefan 07.13.12 @ 12:20 pm

Ray Graham?? Never heard of him!

Comment by Dan 07.13.12 @ 1:35 pm

SIDEBAR – Atlanta Panther & Dan

Dan, I’m not sure on the camera angle in NCAA ’12. For as long as I’ve played, I’ve always used the conventional “behind the offense” angle. I no longer have my copy of NCAA ’12, but I’ll see if that can be changed on ’13.

As far as NCAA ’13 goes, I just got into it a little last night and only played out a couple of exhibition games to get a feel of the new gameplay. From what I’ve seen, most of the changes are subtle but good.

The game “looks” better. The new animations stand out quite a bit. Player models look better and more realistic (particularly linemen, who are no longer just big…some are fat, Ted Washington-style). Heinz Field looks better in this year’s version and the uniforms look great. I’m still waiting to check out a bunch of other stadiums.

The gameplay seems to have improved. Running the ball is tougher in this year’s version. The noted improvements to the passing game and the pass defense are there, though not quite as pronounced as I think EA initially made them sound like they’d be. I’ll say this…the “super linebacker” problem that plagued the last couple of releases seems to be gone.

I haven’t jumped into Dynasty mode on this one yet but based on some of the reviews I’ve read, they’ve improved on it quite a bit.

Comment by Stoosh 07.13.12 @ 7:22 pm

Thanks Stoosh! Ya, I’d be interested. We always used the “classic” angle. There were always 4 or 5 different views you could use.

I’d really be interested to know if they have the different camera angles.

Maybe we missed how to do it on 12 and it was there?

I’d get 13 at this point anyhow, so whatever you find out on 13 would be great.
