So it can be a felony to pull a fire alarm when there is no emergency in New York? Good to know. Dion Lewis found that out by actions.
While staying at the Albany Hampton Inn, Dion and his brother Lamar went out for a good Saturday night, returning around 4 am Sunday. Unfortunately Lewis either left his key card in the room or lost it at one of Abany’s many hotspots. This left the Lewis boys stuck outside their hotel. Not even able to get into the lobby. Apparently they eventually got in and then…
Either Dion or Lamar Lewis then pulled the hotel’s fire alarm, waking dozens of patrons and prompting emergency crews to visit the hotel, police said.
Both brothers were charged with falsely reporting a fire, a felony, and misdemeanor reckless endangerment.
The felony is a class E felony. New York’s lowest grade of felony. Still that allows the story to be “Eagles and former Pitt player charged with felony!!!”
Extra kicker, part of why Lewis was in town was to speak to the Troy Boys and Girls Club, “where he was expected to talk to roughly 100 kids about ‘the value of working to the best of their abilities both on and off the playing field.’ ” Needless to say, the event was canceled.
This was Dion Lewis’ first screw-up. I think we all know who is really responsible for this. Lewis was in New York when it happened. Buffalo is also in New York. Dave Wannstedt is a coach for the Buffalo Bills. I think we can all connect the dots.
Lewis has already issued a generic apology through the Eagles.
“I want to apologize to my family, the Albany community, the Eagles organization and fans, and to the NFL for my involvement in an incident this past weekend,” Lewis said. “It was never my intention to cause any public alarm or damage any property. I am sorry for any embarrassment and inconvenience that my actions have caused.”
Lewis said he would continue to conduct himself “with the high moral, ethical and professional standards that I have my entire life and of which so many others rightly expect of me. Because the matter is still in the hands of the court system, I cannot comment any further.”
The Eagles issued their own statement saying how seriously they and Lewis take this. Seriously, this is serious stuff. It isn’t dumb, stupid actions. It’s all serious.
No one seriously thinks he will face career repercussions for being drunk and stupid. Nor does anyone expect that he will actually end up with a felony on his record once the matter is settled. Heck, since it isn’t even clear that Dion Lewis was the one who pulled the fire alarm, his brother Lamar might just take the hit.

I agree with H.LandPitt.
However, it’s not a joke either. If you really wanted to get serious about it,
A.) it pulls resources away from what could be other serious issues across the city.
B.) Someone could have been injured trying to rush out of the hotel.
Is he a murderer, no, of course not, but I’m not gonna chalk it up to just “boys will be boys” either.
It was a stupid jackass move, and if he gets a little bad publicity and some fines, I have no problem with it.
