I believe there are people in the University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department, and in the school’s administration that read this site regularly. I try not to give too much advice, but…
Next July, when Pitt makes the move into the ACC. No videos. No “cute” gimmicks. Just a simple, understated splash page on the website to say, “Pitt is in the ACC.”
Why? No one is ever as clever as they think they are. Texas A&M drove that point home with this… this… thing.
This surfaced last night, and was immediate subject to such derision, that A&M pulled it around midnight central time. But it was too late. Having learned from the loss of TCU’s “Call Me, Maybe” video, it was quickly copied and survives to the everlasting shame of Texas A&M.
I’m trying to imagine what WVU has done for their move to the Big 12. Presumably it involves burning something.
Plus, one dark blue, one powder blue.
Hmmmm, sounds like a great time to go to Royal Blue and Mustard Gold and be unique and standout in the new conference.
Probably make a mint in new souveigners and clothing.
Make friends with some fans that never wanted them changed. Make new friends with the younger crowd, something old, is something new.
Tell your boss, doesn’t have to swallow his pride, make a joke and laugh about it. No big deal. “As we go on to great new traditions in the ACC, we also go back to some great old traditions”. How easy, if you need me to write for him, let me know. Gratis.
One easy press conference with some laughs and chuckles, show the new uniforms, and sell the hell out of them.
You’re welcome.

i like bowls on jan 1 .
I believe Pitt’s current uniforms are closer to the true glory day uniforms of the Jock Sutherland era than the Pitt script uniforms. I think Pitt should simplify them like ND, PSU, USC, Bama.
“Dennis Dodd ?@dennisdoddcbs
ACC confirms that league controls broadcast rights in new Orange Bowl deal. Plan to take to market. Huge game changer.”
“Joe Schad ?@schadjoe
At least one ACC team will be guaranteed a position in one of the new six “BCS” bowls”
“Joe Schad ?@schadjoe
If an ACC team is in the Final Four when the Orange Bowl is not a semifinal, a DIFFERENT ACC team will placed in the Orange Bowl”
“Joe Schad ?@schadjoe
The ACC will have a team in the Orange Bowl all 12 years of the new BCS, unless it is a semifinal with no ACC team in it”
This sounds like a great deal to me and a real good thing for Pitt. I wonder if FSU, Clemson, Miami, etc. still want to leave now! Ha, “F” them if they do!!
What is wrong with this uniform?
Nothing.
However, the latest glory days of the 70’s and 80’s are the ones that screamed “Pitt”, were one of the more recognizable uniforms in the country, and ones that a lot of us still remember, and actually they used, up until the late 90’s.
They’re not gonna do anything anyhow. Just like to get that off my chest once in awhile.
As long as they win I suppose!!
1 – Orange Bowl (Miami Gardens, FL)
2 – Chick-fil-A Bowl (Atlanta, GA)
3 – Champs Sports Bowl (Orlando, FL)
4 – Sun Bowl (El Paso, TX)
5 – Belk Bowl (Charlotte, NC)
6 – Music City Bowl (Nashville, TN)
7 – Independence Bowl (Shreveport, LA)
8 – Military Bowl (Washington, DC)
Yes, I would like the script.
I do have to say though, I also like the block PITT on the helmets now. It is very collegiate looking.
Just seems like a lot of teams do that same blue and gold, and a lot more have that gold.
Minor, can’t wait till kickoff!!
Nice, clean, collegiate.
Give me one thing though man, away games, wear the white jerseys with the gold pants!!!
A classic look!!
I’m good, bring it on, tee it up!!
i cant wait to get to the ACC.
There is nothing wrong with the current colors. So much so that more than a few teams have the same. Why does Pitt want to look like another team?
You knew it was Pitt on the screen in the 70s/80s just by looking at the unis. They were unique. They were part of the Pitt BRAND.
It’s time to bring the Pitt BRAND back. ’13 in our first year in the ACC sounds like the right time.
Like the current and the script, I’m indifferent, and could go with either, or, or any type of possible combination of the two. However, dear University of Pittsburgh Athletic Dept., DO NOT EVER GO BACK to that crap in the 90s and early 00s. Thank you for your time 🙂
Hail to Pitt!

Have a happy 4th, guys and gals!
Even PSU has been on their for all obrien that is new and promising and blah, blah, blah. That is why they escape all the crap that goes with scandals. These two universities push the brand, 24/7.
I can’t remember when the Pitt Atletic Department got us as a lead story at that site, except for bad news. Time to make changes internally. I too wish they would bring back the mustard. Branding is what it is all about. Unfortunately, too many other teams share the colors and you can’t tell it’s Pitt many times when you see a highlight!
Let’s join as mustard…and the script!
Here is what I would do, but doubt anyone in the Athletic dept. gas a clue that college football is about TRADITION.
I would have every program in 2012 and 2013 carry one of those old time covers from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s.
Bring it into 2012-13 with modern day foes but get some nostalgia going!!
The Hurricanes blow
Go to Hell Blue Devils and Deacon Demons

The Hokies and The Tar Heels (nothing needed to be added)
