The PITT Panther Club is holding its 2012 National Letter of Intent day at Heinz Field on the evening of Wednesday, Feb 1st. It will be in held the East Club Lounge with a 5:00 PM door opening with the event starting at 6:00 pm.
The event is open to Panther Club members, season ticket holders and their guests. RSVPs have to be in, with your guests’ name, by Friday Jan 27th to 412-648-888 or pantherclub@athletics.pitt.edu.
I haven’t been to one yet but I plan on making the drive up and attending this year. The fans I have talked to who have attended have all said that it is a lot of fun as the staff (these guys will stick around, promise!) introduces the recruits, talks about why PITT wanted them and shows film on their HS play. It will consist of two hours on Rushel Shell, an hour discussing Chad Voytik , intermission and then a five minute wrap up on the other guys.
Just kidding, I have no idea how long it lasts but I’d think a couple of hours at least.
There is “game day” food and booze available by concession so if all else fails we can sit in the back, drink beer, bitch about Fraud Graham, generally bullshit and make extraordinarily absurd predictions regarding the upcoming season.
“Game day” food is all the stuff us peons in the cheap seats have to eat and not what the normal fancy pants East Lounge members get to eat at the football games… which gives us another thing to drink beer and bitch about.
Now that I think about it we can use the two weeks before the event to organize and generate a PITT Blather Manifesto to present in protest. Then we can conduct an “Occupy East Lounge” movement, but with booze. It is important to establish PITT street cred if we want our protests to be recognized so Chas will paint his face Old Gold and Blue, but in a camouflage pattern so he can sneak in and listen to the crowd of old PITT lettermen attendees talking with SP about Todd Graham’s family.
It is also a chance to meet and greet some principals on the coaching staff and the athletic administration and to hear their thought on why this new staff is so much better than the old new staff.
So, I’m going to be there this year and hope to see some other of us Blatherers there also. If you aren’t a Panther Club member or a season ticket holder maybe we can figure something out.
Here’s another view of Chas so that you’ll recognize him there.
Edit Note: You have to be kidding with that screen name right?
Another OL and previous Pitt commit Pankey seems to have a great interest in WVU but hasn’t made a commitment yet .. so he is not out of the picture yet.
Most of the news haven’t changed … almost all of the commits seem to be staying except for Conell and possibly Pankey and Corey Jones .. but we won’t know for sure until 2/1.
Changing gears, let’s beat Louisville and get this team turned around. Could happen today, got a feeling.
it looks like are DL coach is AL HOLCOMB
he is with NY giants at this time went to WVU in 1990 to 1993.
he was a DL coach at a small school as well as a DC there also.
Great work digging that up about Holcomb. Just read up on him off the Giants’ website and if he’s indeed the guy (official announcement pending, of course), sounds like they could’ve done a heck of a lot worse. If he’s had a hand over the last few years in the performance of that Giants’ defensive line, I certainly won’t complain about this.
years and was the DC of kuztown as well as DB coach there.
and you can belive it or not if i hit big i mean
20 million or more there are 10 brothers on here who i would find and give each one at least
twenty thousand dollars

i would say most of us think we need OL men
our a qb or WR .
BUT except jj denman have you noticed that the unsigned vists are all DL men or DB or LB there have been what 5 DB 2 DT i LB we have 8 to give now we are down to 17 commits i would say the coachs think we need DEFENCE HELP what say you.
but the coachs know best.
when i saw we were bringing in mostley Defence
i just had a light bulb go on and said i guess i was wrong
Let’s kick Pitino in the ass tonight!!
but would still like to see one more QB.
but you know what if there is only the one QB
you know what that means it means they think more of the QBs we have than we do
ryan mossakowski 6 foot 3 230 pounds he was at
kentucky 2 years ago he has offers from murry st
and jackson st he is a pro style that is the only one even a little bit good.
the rest are not good or signed all ready
Anything on Myers. Is he excited, is he working hard?? With the new offense coming in, I’d like to think he’d be fired up!!
I look at it more positively than some others do.
Considering that 12 months ago the national press was calling our football program “a train wreck” after Haywood’s incident and firing, then a month ago Graham lifted his skirts and ran away, we are in relatively good shape with this class. The reality is that we could be in way worse shape than we are right now.
I do expect this staff to get some more players to come onboard and think we’ll be satisfied with the overall class. But personally, if we maintain the status quo for these 10 days, I think we’ll be fine.
IMO results on the field and the recruit’s progress over their first two years in the system is a much better indicator of a HC’s recruiting then the star system is anyway. I think we saw that with Graham’s 2011 class as well, the recruits pretty much contributed above their rankings out on the field.
know for sure one of new coachs names bye tues
the WR coach or the DL coach.
is there a link anywhere or is this just another well planned and funded Smiling Steve event?
Of course, with the new staff coming in, it will be a bit different in that both staff and the recruits will be new … thus attendees will also get insight on the staff.
I enjoyed it but never went out of my way to attaned another one … but if I worked downtown or on the north shore, I would have probably been there every year.
