Picked up the Volvo S60 for the weekend at my local Volvo dealership. Got a crash course (figuratively I mean) about the car and all the features. It’s going to be a lot of fun to drive — even into a winter storm.
Well, I popped the trunk on the Volvo S60 I get for the weekend thanks to the Biggest Fan in the Big East contest. (Please, vote.) And in there was a box filled with t-shirts, mini-basketballs, beer cozies and hats. Emblazoned with Big East and Volvo logos. Needless to say, I have little corporate goodies to give away tomorrow.
As for the where, I’ll be at Hemingway’s around 6 pm tomorrow. Also definitely going to be there will be at least one of the Bryan’s from PittScript blog. Unfortunately Cardiac Hill almost certainly cannot make it. Please come on over and have a drink (or more) with us.
or after the Spring Game this year. I would love to meet my fellow characters on this blog and hopefully be able to put a face with a name. Just a thought. Also, would like to meet you and Reed.
Could probably get Zeise and Jerry Mico to attend.
You have my email….Let me know if you and Reed ever get close. Thanks to all my fellow bloggers.
Don’t expect miracles vs Louisville. I too, will be rooting as hard as possible but this is a very bad match up for Pitt, even with Woodall returning
PS Being a Pitt fan only goes so far……leave the car as it is. The Volvo looks great in red.
You can always get an “I Love the Panthers” bumper sticker.
Chas, Volvo is well known for its safety .. does this one have a breathalizer feature for start-up?
If Woodall comes back strong and we handle the press, and Gibbs is hot, we have a shot tomorrow night. Louisville in a tailspin.
Pitt plays like they did against cuse and Marquette minus the 13-0 runs plus we make a few lay ups and we win.
Excuse me while I drink beer and watch the pens with my brother in law.
Hey, I think that would be absolutely fantastic. You know, other than not knowing each other in person, you do get to know people on here pretty well. If you are on here for awhile, you definitely know personalties.
Would be fantastic to meet everyone. I’d be willing to kick in. Something we need to keep on the back burner and talk about. After a Pitt game would be ideal.
Fantastic idea. Let’s make it happen.
I like the idea Dan. Where there’s a will, there is a way.
Seems like I’ve said “what is that” and many times the reply “it’s a volvo”.
Good luck Chas. Have fun cruisin’ her around.
@justinian, a vote well placed!
I have a feeling we will get a great effort from the boys Saturday night and will make things interesting at the end.

I invited everyone from here and the message boards at Scout.com and we had a blast meeting each other and putting faces to screen names. It also gives us a chance to talk about things we may not put out in public.
So, here is some advice. If we do this after a PITT game it is going to be packed to the gills with PITT fans. Which makes getting tables and having a decent conversation among a group hard to achieve.
I’d suggest doing it at the Spring Game – which this year might actually be interesting given that we’ll see some different players at QB (I hope).
Not everyone likes to make the drive for that Spring scrimmage though, but it’s low key and a lot of fun. We need to get a little tight before the game, that’s the only way to watch the Spring Game given the circus-like atmosphere down on the field and our natural inclination of doom and gloom from being PITT fans.
Either way, Spring Game or regular season game, count me in. But Dan, don’t pay for it yourself, especially if you have kids you want to put through college. I’m still paying off the massive debt I racked up there… PITT fans are no longer beer drinkers, they tend to go to the hard stuff early and often, which makes sense given the material we fans have to work with.
“If there is any solace in history, it is this: To see Pennsylvania’s best quarterbacks, you only have to travel 50 miles west of the state line to Canton, Ohio. Of the 23 modern-era quarterbacks elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, these six — Blanda, Unitas, Namath, Montana, Kelly and Marino — came from Western Pee-Ay.”

Of course, these boards have not been entirely accurate but Holcomb does indeed seem like an accurate candidate. (Like Haering, he played at WVU in late 80s/early 90s)
I remember a few years back, Syracuse fans rushing the court after a victory, and it was horrible. I even said to myself, “what are they doing, they’re Syracuse”.
And I remember 95% of the Syracuse fans on their boards the next few days were on fire, like we would be, saying the same thing about those that did rush the court.
If you’re a winner, you never rush the court.
They hit a shot with about 4 seconds left and Pitt called a TO before another Pitt player took it out and threw up a long shot … 1st rush of the court.
Pitt was granted a TO and the court was cleared so Pitt took the ball out again with the students lined up ready to pounce. The ball went to half court to Brandon Knight who threw up a half court shot .. and the students rushed again. The ball went in but it appaered to be shot after the buzzer .. again the court was cleared while the refs checked the replay. The they finally said no shot and Cuse wins .. and those morons rushed the court for the 3rd time. Great spontanaity!!
