Well, I guess it is a sign of influence and attention. Not the best kind. Apparently some asshole has opened a twitter account with the name of this site. It’s presumably some Hoopie prick because the jist of it is to pretend I want Todd Graham fired.
If you don’t know, I tweet under @chasrich27, not the blog name.
I’m not bothering to even link to the guy, but I figure I should make it clear that this is a fake account. Please, don’t give the troll the attention he wants. Don’t get baited into responding. Just ignore him.
Thanks.
From Twitter’s Impersonation Policy:
Impersonation is pretending to be another person or entity in order to deceive. Impersonation is a violation of the Twitter Rules and may result in permanent account suspension.
Twitter processes impersonation reports from the user being impersonated or someone legally authorized to act on behalf of the user/entity.
Hail to Pitt!
I noticed that the Pitt Alumni Association is following this idiot. How would they know it’s a fraudulent account? He’s even using the Pitt Blather graphics.
It’s too easy to impersonate people and organizations on the Internet, which is why every provider has strict policies against it. A woman is now on trial for impersonating an ex-boyfriend on Facebook and posting harmful stuff about him. Hopefully, she’ll get more than a slap on the wrist to set a precedent that protects others.
The posts are pro-Pitt, anti-Graham and seemingly anti-Chas: “only better, more evilier, hotter, sexier, ruthlessier, and will say what he won’t.”
Sorry to get so fired up over what some may think is flattering or harmless, but this is the industry I work in. It’s stuff like this that gets governments thinking they need to pass legislation and more closely regulate things. The Internet is the greatest communication tool in history and it’s been largely policed by those who participate. I’d just hate to see that change.
I’m sure Chas will go after him if he hasn’t already. Like I said before, Chas has worked too hard to create the Pitt Blather brand to let some dickhead ruin it.
The guy obviously doesn’t know what kind of risk he’s taking, or he’d either shut it all down or turn the login info over to Chas ASAP.
