Awaiting Voytik

Chad Voytik is probably going to commit to Pitt at some point. That seems to be the consensus. Pitt is leading for his services, and he is down to Vanderbilt and Pitt at this point.

“It’s Pitt and Vandy,” Voytik said. “I’m down to those two schools for the most part. I really like Pitt right now. They’re probably the leader. But Vandy’s close behind.”

New Panthers coach Todd Graham has not been afraid to expand the program’s recruiting to grab quality prospects such as Voytik. On the quarterback’s end, the school has plenty of things going for it as he looks at the positives and negatives of each option.

“It’s just the fit, the coaching staff and the kind of offense they run,” he said. “They opportunity (to play early) is the main factor. I’ve been there twice, and I loved it when I was up there.”

In-state program Vanderbilt has built some momentum on the recruiting trail with a string of quality commitments recently, and that is certainly something working in the school’s favor.

“They’re getting some great recruits,” Voytik said. “They’ve got a bunch of Tennessee kids like (running back Brian) Kimbrow. That’s a good program, I feel like they’re on the rise. It may be a year or two, but I feel like they’re going to turn things around and it’s a good school.”

Based on all indications however, it looks like the Tennessee native will head to the northeast to play his college ball.

Voytik lives in Cleveland, Tennessee, though, it would seem he does have some family in the Pittsburgh area.

Voytik is a 4-star recruit by all recruiting sites — and essentially the only thing that kept him from being a 5-star, and top QB prospect is that he is maybe 6-0 (Insider subs).

There is so much to like about this guy, but you just wish he were taller. He is a Kyle Parker/Drew Brees type and we would argue you will not find a quicker release on a QB in the 2012 class than the one Voytik has. The ball absolutely jumps out of his hand with pop and velocity and he can fit the ball into tight spots because of his anticipation and release that most can’t. In fact, his delivery gives the impression that he has a stronger arm than he actually does. He stands at right about six feet. Works mostly from the shotgun and is very impressive on timing routes and routes that require him to throw to a spot. He is balanced, has great feet and shows presence and awareness in the pocket. … In our opinion if he were two or three inches taller he would be a national recruit for this class. Good prospect with some things you can’t coach–like a lightning quick release.

Naturally QB Coach Todd Dodge is the lead recruiter on Voytik and you can bet he points out that he groomed a couple top college QBs — especially “short” QB Chase Daniel —  and that the Pitt offense will now be done with the QB in the shotgun.

Essentially the offense is made for a QB like Voytik, and a QB Coach like Todd Dodge makes it more attractive.

The ESPN Elite 11 QB camp that Voytik got to be a part of, had him as one of the stand-outs.

Gunner Kiel of Columbus East (Columbus, Ind.), the No. 1 QB in the ESPNU 150, also impressed with his arm strength, as did Voytik, Tyler Cameron of Jupiter, Fla., and Jeff Lindquist of Mercer Island, Wash.

The Cleveland High quarterback received a compliment from one of his fellow competitors. “There are a lot of guys here with really strong arms,” said Kiel. “Personally, I’ve been impressed. Voytik’s got a gun. He can throw it pretty good.”

Kiel just shocked everyone by committing to Indiana. Helps that the OC that helped develop Sam Bradford is now the head coach there. As is the fact that Kiel’s older brother is already on the Indiana football team.

Voytik was indeed named one of the “Elite 11” QBs of the 24 competing QBs. ESPN will be airing highlights of the camp on August 12 and 19.

Voytik would be Pitt’s biggest QB recruiting get since Pat Bostik.

“Voytik would be Pitt’s biggest QB recruiting get since Pat Bostik.”

So does this mean in five years Voytik will be replacing Bill Hillgrove in the booth with Bostik?

Voytik (~6-1, ~200) is a lot smaller than Bostic (~6-3, ~230).

Voytik is a “must” recruit for the Panthers. Maybe Johnny Majors couls assist in the recruitment? On another matter, I and some otherclerics carefully viewed the play at home plate and there was NO DOUBT that Luggo was nailed. The fact that MLB does not use the replay is a travesty. So the Bucs were “rooked” again/ Rev. George from Columbus.

This is a huge possible recruit. I will hold my breath till I see the signature.

Hey, we all know, stars and bars, and this and that, who knows how it will pan out, right, we’ve all argued over recruits back and forth.

This would be a pretty significant recruit, I’ve seen things on him on ESPN, Fox Sports etc.etc., no, nothing huge, but, college football people are aware of this kid. So, no stars, quotes or anything like that to give you, just that, he is a known entity, and would be a big, big recruit for Coach Graham.

We also know, how, snowballs get rolling!!!

Yes, he could be a dud, but, right now, at this moment, would be a huge landing!!!

Fingers crossed!

Rev George, I;m not so sure that even if replay was in MLB, that the play would have been reversed becuase it is a judgement call …remember that calls or non-calls of pass interference and holding cannot be reviewed .. even though I have seen obvious missed calls here that had more impact on the game than reviewed calls.

Voytik would bring in a lot of other players I feel. It all starts with the QB. Hopefully some big-time running backs and offensive linemen to commit as well as this big-time QB

If we land Voytik and he’s the real deal, then it doesn’t matter if all our other recruits are 3 stars or even two. QB = impact position, especially in this offense. Pete Gonzales to Rob Murphy. Liberty Bowl! Matt Lytle to who? 2-9 season. Granted the Liberty bowl would be a step back for this team…

No apology! No remorse! No reversal! Just a nistake eh? Well, Perhaps MLB will enter the 21st Century someday and use the technology at hand. PERHAPS? Rev. George from Columbus
