Late JUCO WR to the Mix

Recruiting never ends. Even for the 2011 class. Pitt has apparently added a new WR from the JUCO ranks ($).

His name is Joshua Brinson from El Camino College in Torrance, California. Brinson is originally from Miami, Florida. The El Camino roster (PDF)lists him at 6-2, 195 pounds.

Based on this, Brinson was originally a signee of UAB back in 2008. A 2-star WR out of high school. UAB was his top option followed by Kent State.

It would appear that Brinson was considered one of the top JUCO WRs available ($). You might be able to watch some highlights of Brinson here.

Coach Todd Graham had complained that there wasn’t sufficient depth at the WR spot at the start of spring practices. This is one way to address it.

Well, Graham has stated he wants 11 WRs on the roster.

I want one question answered: How does Graham view this team’s talent compared to Tulsa’s?

The only data point one can reliably take away from this spring stuff.

kid looks bigger on film than his body profile on paper. Good hands. YAC is impressive. Runs good routes. He looks like he can step in an help. Can he learn the system quickly without the benefit of the spring?

Gotta admire a kid who admits he messed up with his grades at UAB, and is looking for a second chance. Seems like, from the article at least, he knows what kind of opportunity he has. I hope he can play!

WR Josh Brinson a good get for Coach Todd Graham; problem is he makes another big target 4 Tinko Sunseri to overthrow!

Hey (Comment by Steve) the talent at Pitt rates better than Tulsa, however, Todd Graham plugs this better talent into a different system. It seems to me you don’t need as good of talent to fix into Todd Graham’s scheme. So with Pitt’s better talent shouldn’t TG do at minimum a little better than he did at Tulsa???

Now Graham needs to land a JC linebacker.

Wait until you see our next big thing in WR blossum this fall IF Graham gives him enough opportunities. For whom do I profess such future accolades, thats right it’s my man Shannahan!! #87 possesses the best hands on the team IMO.

Randy, one would hope given the similar, um, quality of the 2 conferences.

Agree with you Dr. Tom on #87. Watched Shanahan since HS at Norwin. Great size and best hands on this team. Tough. Needs work on his blocking, but he has NFL size. And at 6’5″ and a former hooper, he can jump for those overthrown passes from Tinko (still lol at that one). Should star in this high octane offense with the right QB.

Lets not forget to mention Mr Everything …The Fantastic Lafayette Pitts! Does Pitt need anyone else? Todd graham wants to use him everywhere! The French are Coming!
