In case you didn’t realize it — and given the distraction — that is understandable, there is Pitt’s bowl game at noon down in Birmingham against Kentucky, with an overlapping game at the Pete at 2pm with Marquette.
I’m not sure it is a good idea or practical to have just one liveblog with the two games overlapping. That would get real messy.
I would simply set up 2 different liveblogs with Luke running one and I would handle the other. Unfortunately, this is one of the few days Luke is unavailable for liveblog duties.
So this means I am looking to see if there are any volunteers to operate as a producer of the football or basketball liveblog.
I’m thinking that the best approach would be to have one person help on football and one on basketball. I would start on the football and then leave it in the new guy/gal’s hands to finish while I went over to help get the basketball side going.
Here’s a basic outline of what you need to do:
— Have a Cover It Live account.
— Be able to watch a game, comment, and moderate comments as they come in — all at once.
— Moderate means to control the flow. Not all comments need to go through and keep things relatively calm and not a shouting match.

Of Course Steve will announce that Joe is know as “Mr. Honest and that’s the kind of change that we need here at Pitt.” Implying that Wanny was a LAIR and that will further piss off everyone.
Shortly after that I dis-own Pitt Football and just watch basketball.

So much for the theory it was a SP-DW meeting gone bad on Dec 6th.
I know most people on this forum have not agreed with me but If I am Bradley, if he has a set of balls, he needs to have a press conference and push Pitt a bit. He can say almost nothing but get out there to say he is pursuing various conversations and answer some questions. Yes, Pitt will hate it but it will help this guy in the long run to show himself to the public. He needs to come out from behind the curtain which has been my problem with this guy. Show himself as having a presence, a plan, and some fire. Show us what Dan Rooney sees. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain.
On that day, who would have predicted that all hell was about to break loose. Alumni/season ticket holder would be screaming: “Fire DW or I ain’t renewing my season tickets and donations!” More than a month later, optimism and order turned to utter chaos and dire future projections with the loss of almost an entire recruiting class. No apparent genius coach on the horizon to bail Pitt out.
Maybe the university can start burning books with unflattering topics as well.
He said that he would recruit star players whom the NFL wanted. His players would graduate. If his players got into trouble by doing something flagrant, he would send them packing. If it was a first time offense for someone who otherwise had a good record, he would take that into consideration. Also, he said that he would not use Pitt as a stepping stone for another position.
It sounded pretty good. They hired him, and then the crowd got tough. Pitt had to fire him.
Hmmm… Funny how a paper in Philadelphia gets an interview with Bradley. What the hell is Zeise doing?

Graham has a long term contract with Tulsa, he could be possibly working on Tulsa for a raise or serious about Pitt, you never know.
Hopefully the nightmare concludes today or Monday in naming a coach because this years recruiting class looks to be a disaster and even out here in Oklahoma we are being laughed at regarding the coaching firing, hiring, firing and now hiring again fiasco.

This is a guy who could step in and stop the bleeding, recruit and not embarrass us on game days. Agreed on the PR thing…who is running this ship? I have done marketing and PR and worked with many good ones. The main part of PR is setting up and handling expectations, then managing and OVERINFORMING those affected.
I think this is the one thing that has most of us baffled and has always been a Pitt problem. Wouldn’t it have been nice if they had come out last Saturday with the statement released Thursday evening?? and then daily kept us up to date?? All we die hards ask for is real infomation, as much as Pitt can give. Instead we are treated like a bunch of buffoons who are simply not intelligent or qualified enough to understand the magnificence of SP and Nordy.
What utter arrogance! We alums and fans deserve better. I am now turning my anger and angst toward Nordy…he is the captain of the Pitt titanic and my buck(s) will no longer stop at Pitt. Cannot wait for the next Pitt telecall for $$’s. Glad I am hearing the same from most of you and the big $$ alums. What a travesty!
Mind you, it’s just starting out, but, this morning, it reared it’s ugly head, and I can’t believe it. A small bit of……..indifference and disinterest!!!!

Bradley already came out and spoke earlier this week expressing his frustration with the premature report that Pitt offered him the job.
I don’t think calling a press conference so he can vent about the process helps him one bit. What’s his leverage? He really, really, really wants the Pitt job. That’s about it. But Pitt has other options (and some relatively solid ones at that); Bradley basically has UConn or his current position at Penn State, which has pretty much revealed itself to be a dead end whenever JoePa retires.
I just don’t know that it does much more for him than make him seem desperate. Pitt has what he wants – the head coaching job. It’s CLEARLY the most attractive of his options (I don’t care how much $$ UConn can throw at him…Pitt is a better coaching job – better facilities, better tradition, better recruiting base, better talent pool, better stadium).
Sure, it may galvanize the support of the fan base behind him, but I think the Official PITT Coach-Picking Committee is already aware of that sentiment. Zeise and others have said Bradley is a favorite among some on the committee, but there are others who aren’t convinced that he’s the right guy. A press conference like that may do nothing more than further piss off the committee members who aren’t in his corner, and force his supporters in the committee to unnecessarily defend him.
At the end of the day, I do hope we get Bradley as I think he brings the most complete package of any of the candidates. I just don’t know that going public with his frustrations over this does him that much good in the long run.
Pitt has perhaps the most incompetent Athletic Department in the country. If it is Graham, I will not be attending any games next year nor will the University see one penny of my hard earned money.
