I know it’s my own fault. It’s my own obsession and fandom that is to blame. I know if I say this out-loud in my own home, my wife would likely beat me with the media guides lying within arms reach.
I just want Pitt to hire a football coach.
Yes, Pitt needs to get this right. They need to be a hell of a lot more thorough than the last time. Interview more people. Do better diligence. Still…
I’m sick of obsessively refreshing my news tabs. I’m sick of scanning and rescanning the comments. Of practically flinching everytime Tweet Deck updates my Twitter feeds. I’m tired of being afraid of being away from my computer or phone for too long, because I might miss some tiny morsel of rumored information.
It’s worn me down, and distracted me from everything else.
I’ve paid zilch attention to the actual bowl game this Saturday, meaningless as it may be. I haven’t had a chance to look ahead to the Marquette basketball ball game — also on this Saturday. There’s been no spare time to write about the Providence escape.
My daughter told me that a short little sketch her class was supposed to do was canceled because the teacher has been sick. All I thought, was that this was good since I wouldn’t be able to check things if I had to attend.
It’s all been about the coaching search. The ultimate fate of the Athletic Director. Whether the next coach will create buzz or just win games. What Pitt needs, wants, can pay, will pay.
It’s only been five days since the firing/rebooted coaching search. Yet it feels like it has been going on for weeks. So compressed and chaotic. I can’t even imagine what the stress must be like in the athletic department of Pitt right now.
Part of the weariness is the sense of inevitability that the job is going to Tom Bradley. This is not a bad thing if/when it happens. There seems to be more overall support for Bradley by fans than first thought. It is just that I would just like for it to be over and done now.
The whole thing really has become surreal. I truly think that if Bradley had been hired in the first place there would have been a lot more skepticism and division among the fans about his hire. As it stands now, he seems to have gained more support after the Haywood debacle.
Okay. I’m done whining and trying to articulate the angst. Back to it.
Suggestion – why don’t they call happy valley and suggestion that he replace Joey P.
I could be wrong brother, but, I thought there was quite a bit of criticism of hiring a MAC coach.
No problem, maybe I’m remembering wrong.
Besides, after they eff’ this up, that will just be another notch on their belt. Unbelievable!!!
This is entertaining. More entertaining than than the football season was, anyway. Pitt’s just trying to excite the fan base.
