Haywood has a sneaky strategy regarding his assistant coaches, he promises them lifetime employement, then he just waits for them to die off. Eliminates all that nasty handing out pink slips meetings otherwise necessary for under performing coaches.
What else is embarrassing to me, my own fault, earlier this year when I was getting excited at the prospects of changing to the Big Ten or ACC, it was all wasted breath and thought. The whole time I’m dwelling, “I hope Mark and Steve are fightin’ for a place”, “Hope they’re doing their best at glad handing these people”, etc. etc., ha ha what a fool was I, the whole time that was going on, Mark and Steve weren’t even thinking about it.
Dan, while you were thinking about the Big 10 and the ACC, I was thinking about Jamie and UConn, Syracuse, Villanova, Georgetown, Louisville, ND, WVU and the BB games in Jersey (Rutgers and Seton Hall). My confidence in Mark and Steve was well placed.
BigGuy, you are correct. Really silly to think of myself last spring and summer. I was really pumped up, reading every article out there. I admit the fool. Enjoy the hoops, you are right!
As always, I’m continually amused. I bet there are a few “football” schools that would love to say that they’ve been to bowls 8 of the last 10 years. Just ask boosters where PenisRod coaches. Yawn.
If you think there’s any prestige in the compass bowl or the meineke car care bowl. I don’t think that invitations to those are anything to strut our stuff over. Wake me up if and when we ever play on new year’s day. Until then we’re a basketball-first school.
It seems like Haywood needs to jump behind the wheel and start steering the ship. Seems like he should be at least talking to some recruits – I keep hearing stories about the recruits backing out and not hearing a word from the new coach. Get going Haywood or we’ll be left with junk for an incoming class.
Dan, I enjoyed your facetious response with regard to conferences. That is what makes this board interesting. This country needs both Democrats and Republicans. We need opposite viewpoints. (Hmmm. I reread my previous post. I don’t know how anyone could disagree with my position.)
@wally, you posted a couple days ago about Zeise, figured I’d post a note to you on this updated story. Just dawned on me, funny, you were right on, at the end of Sunday night sports showdown, or one of those shows, he ended the last two minutes going on about “how tired I am”, “finally I can get some sleep”, and the other guys coddled him, “great work Paul”, “go get some sleep Paul, you deserve it”. ha ha LMAO
No one said anything about prestige or strutting our stuff, but it’s not like we go 3-8 every year like we did 20 years ago. I remember the 90’s. One winning season in the decade. 7 seasons with 4 wins or less. I’ve seen more winning in the past 3 years than I did in the first 10 years after I graduated combined. I guess it’s all about perspective..
