Big East (Finally) Releases B-Ball Skeds

Filed under: Schedule — Chas @ 6:59 pm

Ah, the Big East. I know football season has been, well, a disaster for the conference reputation. And the sooner you can change the subject to basketball, the better.

My understanding of publicity and press releases is that you release the bad news on a late afternoon on Friday. Not the good stuff. And certainly not as Yom Kippur is kicking off. Well, it wouldn’t be the Big East if they weren’t clueless.

So the schedules for the conference are out. Not any time to digest the full picture yet. Here’s Pitt’s schedule.

Quick thoughts.

Pitt is on ESPN networks or CBS for 12 of their 18 Big East games. Impressive, and tells everyone what the expectations are for Pitt.

Four of the 13 non-cons are already on ESPN’s schedule. Should not be a problem for all the other games to be aired on FoxSport Pittsburgh and the FullCourt package.

As usual with the Big East, there aren’t any real breathers. The toughest stretch appears to be in early January with Marquette, at Georgetown, Seton Hall and Syracuse.

Not that the last few weeks of the season will be easy. Aside from the USF games, there are two games with WVU and Villanova along with trips to Louisville and St. John’s plus Cinci.

Any word on how ticket sales for the Tennessee game at the Consol Center is going to work? Seems like that would be a fun one, and there’d have to be more tickets available than usual.

TIME TO GO TO WORK!

I’m really sick of these Thursday night Pitt games…it leaves my Saturday afternoon with a void…

Great non-con schedule. Definitely not a cake walk like some of our previous seasons. Going undefeated heading to the BE season could put us in the top 3. I’m excited to see the younger kids play and the experience they earn here will secure more success for years to come.

Hey 85, season ticket holders will get first crack at Tennessee tickets beginning Oct.4, and the public will get the opportunity to buy through Ticketmaster or at the Consol on Oct. 11.

Pitt football should take a look at how BB starts a season…

Is it really necessary to print a litany of alleged or even proven allegations against young, amateur athletes? When an athlete is charged with an offense must the media rehash the other episodes involving other purported offenses of teammates. As a clergyman for over 55 years I am grateful that the media is not my final judge and jury. Perhaps some reporters should have gone to law school—or better yet, SEMINARY. Rev. George from Columbus.
