It’s the start of a new season of liveblogging. For those of you who were regulars last year, you will recall the bitching on my part about the wife not allowing me to put a refrigerator in the basement to keep my beer closer at hand. Our house came with appliances left behind, including a fridge. So there wasn’t even a need to buy one.
Well, it took almost a year, but she finally conceded it. Really, though, it wasn’t me. It was everyone else who told her that not taking advantage of having the extra freezer and refrigerator space. Now I have to find something else over which to whine.
As usual, the liveblog is below, but if you need/want to break it out from the site Click Here.
The fun will start around 8:15 to get the pregame talking out of the way.
“It’s great to bring them into our den, or whatever you want to call it, and give them a taste of what Utah football, Mountain West football is all about,” defensive end Christian Cox said. “I don’t think they really understand what they are getting themselves into.”
I’m pushing 52 and have seen it all regarding Pitt football!
Pitt 24 Utah 21
anyone know of a live video feed on line? I’m traveling without access to a bar or VS on tv…ARRRGGHHH
Just want to see a good game with a minimum of stupid mistakes and unforced errors.
I think Pitt will put up 35 and Utah 31.
The defense is horrible!
Still a terrific effort for the team and coaches.
Again I say we had no right to expect to win this game against Utah with a new QB, O line etc.
We’ll get em next time….Hail to Pitt
1. How bout some play action passing on first down. Watching the replays, Utah’s defense was pursing to Lewis as soon as the ball was snapped.
2. Why the timeout after a first down catch with 38 seconds left. One, the clock is already stopped and two, you have them on the ropes. Their defense was staggering and we give them time to settle down. We had plenty of time. Im not gonna buy that it was called to calm Sunseri down. Especially after looking at our sidelines. Its like a F’in chinese firedrill over there. I think I saw Jamal Sheard in the huddle with DW talking strategy!
Yet as stated from the start of this game, displayed some true immaturities. As it stands with Pitt football (esp under Wannstedt), this is a team TEAM SPORT. And too much dancing for the big play ala Shady. And I think only that because he is such a really good kid (Lewis) who doesn’t want to disappoint his coaches & peers, that he early-on attempted ‘big plays’ when the situation did NOT call for Big Plays. The OLine was satisfactory. Our fridge QB played better than advertised by his coaching staff. And I say that had Dion Lewis run DOWNHILL like he did last year, the game would have had different outcome. And for Lewis to understand this and move fwd from a very disappointing performance, the coaching staff will have had to have paid notice to his gametime mistakes.
I am sure they did. Am sure you’ll read it tomorrow, too, in pghPG et al. Once more, though, and in sum, as said, whereas there is a glaring lack of both talent & depth in the secondary, and a new QB under center, Pitt relies on Lewis’ NS downhill run style. They do not, however rely on his ‘big play’ potential: ability as they would in LaRod’s case, in Cam Saddlers’, or, for that matter, as one might with Noel Devine on the roster.
Ray Graham is that kind of player. But he is, evidentally, with injury more seeious than perhaps any anticipated. If he had been ready to play tonight, yes, you’d have seen him.
I’m pushing 30, which means I’ve been around long enough for this team to have made a staunch pessimist. I’m gonna guess 31-17, Utah.
