I’m still working out the full details, but I’m coming to NYC for Fashion Day to witness the unveiling of Nike’s new Pro Combat Uniforms for Pitt and those other nine programs on Wednesday, September 1.
Now I’m coming in the day before and with only a couple days before the season opener, it seems only proper to get together with fellow Pitt fans Tuesday night. It seems about time to put some faces to the names of the people who help motivate me to keep this stuff going. Anyone up for it?
Like I said, the details are still being finalized. I know that the hotel where I am supposed to be staying is around Spring and Varick. At the very least recommendations and suggestions on a good place to drink around there would be appreciated.
Good food down at the Tribeca Grill, about 10 blocks South. I think DeNiro is a co-owner. A bit northeast of your hotel (20 or so blocks) is McSorley’s. Used to be an amazing place. Last time I was there, I thought they sold out a bit though. They went ahead and installed a TV set, which sort of took away the atmosphere.
anarctica bar is a good bar. completely agree. i just found out i will be the tech director for nike’s nyc production team, so i will see you at the unveiling as well! Cant wait to get an early peak at the jerseys
saw the uniforms a few weeks ago along with the version that Pitt turned down….I’m very dissapointed that they went with the all blue look considering that Nike made a great proposal for a navy(ala now) and yellow(ala old school) stripe with a white base along with the yellow pants and helmet with the old Pitt Script. I dont know why Peterson hates on the old logo so much, but they did have an option to return for just one game (backyard brawl)
If you don’t mind spending the money at least for one meal, a must is to head to Ben Benson’s. This is THE steak place to go to. I’m there quite a bit and have been going for years. cocktails are two fisted types and steaks are tremendous. Have to agree on McSorley’s Lucabrasi – if you haven’t been there, t up a pint or two of an ice cold ‘sorely’s.
