LiveBlog: Pitt-Marquette

I’m probably hoping against hope that the Orange-Hoya tilt ends early. I expect that the first few minutes will be unseen.

Continually amazed by this team. If you told me Gibbs would have 2 points and Wanamaker would have 7 turnovers, I would have bet lots of money they lost. Marquette didn’t play very well, but still this is an impressive victory for Pitt. Gary really played well – 6 blocks – Wow! Nasir also had a nice game – funny to see the guys on the bench laughing after his three. Can’t imagine he has the green light to shoot that but when it goes in, who cares?

Nova will be very tough but right now, with Rutgers and Providence at the end of the year, the worst I could see Pitt finishing is 11-7, and I still think they can win one of the two road games to get to 12-6. That would be an amazing accomplishment for this group. Had serious doubts at the beginning of the year about the NCAA chances, but that seems almost a lock right now. Great job Coach Dixon – it’s been a fun year.

Up until the last few minutes, it looked like the type of textbook win that we really needed.

Then things got ugly…

…thankfully ugly for both teams!

Jamie really took advantage of ‘quette’s lack of size by hammering Gary and Dante at them (although Taylor was not without a few defensive lapses tonight).

So I guess we should be thankful that Marquette went cold from 3 tonight, especially during those last few minutes where we couldn’t do anything either.

Solid road win tonight. Credit this one to defense. Took Marquette totally out of their game, which is why they were clanging all their shots at the end. Let’s hope for the same effort on Sunday. Yeah, we looked sloppy at the end with stupid turnovers and missed freethrows, but Marquette was so frustrated that they couldn’t take advantage. And, it goes in the win column which is all that counts.

Good to see Taylor get some buckets. BUT, why oh motherf@#$ing why cannot he seem to understand how to properly perform the hedge??!! He just can’t bring himself to commit to it, and it hurts them almost every time.

Elated that they won, but those last few minutes were extremely frustrating.

what a fantastic game from mr. mcghee. i wish southwest would open up a boston to pittsburgh route so i could catch more than the uconn game in person.
