Okay, so facing MVC opponents can be a scary proposition. Especially when Pitt is in what could reasonably be considered a “neutral-road” game in Kansas City.

Fun starts at 7:30. The game is on ESPN2.
Assuming they play Texas tomorrow, it is going to be a tough matchup. If they don’t rebound better, it won’t even be close. That being said, even if they go down hard tomorrow, this trip will have been a success.
Right now, Texas is up three with 4 minutes to go in the first half.
McGee- Good: played hard on both ends. Made some free throws. Bad: He needs to hold on to some of those rebounds. Needs to work on his footing but otherwise a big surprise for him to even be contributing at all.
Taylor- Good: well, the kid is still learning Bad: looks lost most times. Doesn’t quite understand how to box out yet. Needs to increase his intensity on both ends.
Robinson- Good: great energy and always plays hard Bad: needs to work on his ball handling and needs to be careful not to dribble between 3 defenders. Also, needs to finish his layups.
Gibbs- Good: excellent shooting and defense. Bad: Needs to shoot more while he’s hot.
Woodall- Good: excellent shooting, dribbling, defense, rebounding and offensive penetration. I didn’t realize how fast this kid was. He kinda reminds me of a shorter Johnny Flynn. Bad: reduce turnovers.
Adams- Good: Great defense (steals) and good dribbler. Bad: Needs to get more involved on the offensive end.
Wanamaker- I saved him for last b/c…Good: NONE Bad: Everything. I really don’t understand this kid. He just makes me nervous. Yes, he’s played relatively well thus far in the season but today it almost seemed as if he just wanted to quit. He played with no confidence and turned the ball over. And for some reason his turnovers always turn out to be the worst. I hope he turns it around tomorrow. If not, Dixon better yank his ass.
First, there is no one better on when to take time outs. I can’t think of a situation over the years that the team hasn’t played better after a TO.
Last, it is amazing how this group is playing together so well so early in the season, and you’ve got to give much of the credit to coaching. Think of it, a 10 man rotation that consists of new guys and non-starters actually knowing where their teammates will be in many situations.
Kudos to Jamie and staff.
A lot of talent that needs polishing…especially Robinson and Wannamaker.
Stayed up to watch Texas….they use a lot of Pro isolation plays and not much team offense. If Pitt can control the tempo they might stay close.
Rebounding is key tonight. They could get murdered on the boards. Not at all impressed with Texas Defense.
