That promises to add to the weirdness.

For those who haven’t heard or read, the UConn-Pitt game on Saturday, October 10 will be a 3:30 game with regional coverage on ABC. And by regional, I mean regional. Here are the games at 3:30 on ABC.

Sat., Oct. 10 Wisconsin at Ohio State 3:30 p.m. ABC
Sat., Oct. 10 Baylor at Oklahoma 3:30 p.m. ABC
Sat., Oct. 10 Oregon at UCLA 3:30 p.m. ABC
Sat., Oct. 10 UConn at Pitt 3:30 p.m. ABC

I’ll post the regional map when it is actually published (or simply when I find it. Odds are, though, if you are on the East Coast you are set. West of the coastal states and you better have ESPN 360 or GamePlan.

As for my sobriety, which seems counter intuitive to a 3:30 start? Well, here’s the culprit.

There is a sportsbloggers panel at 2pm on Saturday. I’ll be sitting on a panel with bloggers from Pensblog and Pittsburgh Sports and Mini Ponies. The panel will be moderated by Mike Woycheck of Pittsburgh Bloggers.

So, I’ll be heading over to try and make kickoff afterwards. Faced with the choice of making a guaranteed ass of myself by trying to do the panel after drinking or only a 50-50 chance of it, I’m opting for the coin flip.

Trying to be objective, I believe Pitt to currently be the 3rd best BE team behind Cincy and USF. Note that they play each other on Thursday, the 15th, the night before we play at Rutgers.

We play both at home later on but have to take care of business before then starting with UConn. I’m always leery of playing a team that has an extra week to prepare like Uconn — remember last year when Rutgers completing reconfigured their team on route to ending their year with 6 straight wins … although it is difficult to believe that UConn wouldn’t stick to their basics, although Pitt may see a few new wrinkles. Also, a team that traveled to Baylor and won is not to be taken lightly, but we should expect a W.

the game will be on ESPN in the markets where the Big Ten game is on ABC

Balls! I better get the Pitt game instead of Ohio St., but since my cable provider is out of Ohio I probably wont 🙁 Hopefully ESPN will pick it up for me. Grrrrr!!!

Chas – I think that if I was on a panel at something called “Podcamp 4” I’d make sure I was a bit tight. It would be the only way I could get through it.

However, if you choose to be responsible and remain sober for your panel – never fear, you can take your time wandering over the the stadium and drinking on the way. If PITT plays like they did last week the second half will be the only one worth watching.

Is it just me, or does Stull look like he’s having an easier time throwing the deep ball this year? Last season it seemed like he had to put every ounce of himself into a throw just to get it beyond 25 yards.

The TDs thrown seemed to hit the 3 receivers pretty much in stride (don’t forget about the TD to Turner ins the 1st half that was called back – that was a good pass also). No doubt, he has improved in that area. I hate to to be negative since he is playing very well, but he continues to have problem with that short out … had a couple near picks the other night, and threw a couple short to Dickerson vs NCS. But overall, he looks much more confident .. including the intermediate routes.

Despite his improvement, I still believe the key is establishing a run …. remember, Lewis only had 16 yards on 9 carries in the 2nd half vs NCS (but please, I am not inviting another discussion as to thos was to blame for that loss.)

I liked how they used a fresh Graham in the second half. It’s something they should build on. Lewis in the first and Graham in the second, plus spinkle in some Hynowski and keep taking those shots down field.

How about the spread with all 3 in the backfield? And maybe cross ’em up with you-know-who?

dugdog: clearly, Stull has more confidence in his offensive line–he’s planting his back foot and not dancing around while trying to make a pass–but it also appears that Cignetti has made Stull’s progressions more straightforward by simplifying the reads Stull and his receivers have to make during the play. Less thinking, and more reacting; getting the ball out of his hands and letting his athletic receivers try to make a play.
