Adam Gunn has had his preliminary hearing continued for a week. It was scheduled for today, but it will be next Thursday instead. Austin Ransom’s hearing was continued as well.
The extra details of the event — from the police report — don’t make it any worse than expected. Just a lot more embarrassing for Gunn.
Gunn and a group of other men were attempting to cut the line at Club Zen late Saturday night. Police officers escorted the group away from the line and threatened to arrest them if they came back.
Gunn then circled around and got in front of one of the officers. When the officer tried to arrest him, Gunn “pulled away and spun around swinging” before he took off running through the Station Square parking lot. Police caught him when he tripped on a chain in the parking lot.
As one officer was trying to handcuff Gunn, Ransom ran up and swung at the officer. Ransom then fought with two other officers before they arrested him.
While that was occurring, one of the other men in the group – Anthony Coleman – challenged one of the officers to a fight. He also resisted arrest and broke one of the officer’s badges off of his shirt. Coleman was Tasered and arrested.
It also seems that Gunn got the taser as well.
This is not “kick off the football team” worthy. It’s a safe bet to assume that the final disposition will be lower. Small comfort right now.
I’m sorry, but this is getting embarassing.
I hate to say it, but if Baldwin needs something seriously done to him as well. Sure he might be the only offensive threat we have this year, but we should at least try to cling to what little integrity is left in college football these days in college football.
my career. Companies can be very selective, especially during a recession. So much public information on applicants is easily available. Most companies have a background check done by specialized firms. What can possibly be an isolated incident raises doubt about the applicant. Why take a chance? I wish it wasn’t this way, but I wish young people understood the potential terrible consequences of such seemingly minor mistakes.
Gunn and Baldwin will both be on the team.
Baldwin’s incident, it turns out, happened weeks if not months ago. He was on a Pitt bus with other players, was drunk, and reached around another Pitt player to slap some girl on the arse when she was holding things up by not getting off the bus. I know that is just his version, but whoop dee doo.
Gunn realized he was screwing up and tried to get away by running from what he thought was a rent a cop, not a Pgh police officer.
Let’s not forget that Levance got drunk, got tasered and still did all right his senior year. Kids do stupid things, God only knows how many of us are still alive after what we did when I was an undergrad. The difference is that there was no internet when I (and most of you) were undergrads.
PSU players fight other men, and smoke up. Smokers get 3-game suspensions.
Pitt players harass women and fight cops. Can’t wait to see what happens to them! Oh by the way, how many games was Levance Fields suspended for getting drunk and trying to steal a cop’s gun? Hmmm…..
Pitt remains a joke, both on AND off the field!
Most all the guys remained on the team but it did not prevent the typical slow 11 major bowl game performance.
Pitt has their problems but the aggies have no room to talk.
If Gunn were up at John Deere U, he would just have to clean up Section EG rows 31-38 at the Beav and he would be back on the team with no further punishment needed!
Don’t be so quick to judge unless you really know facts and the people behind all this gossip
