Leave Work Early on Friday

Either that, or make sure you are plugged into (and your work network is not blocking) March Madness on Demand.

Pitt will take on ETSU at approx. 2:55 pm on Friday.

The announcers will be Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery for both rounds. Awesome

all you philly people like me…..temple plays at approximately the same time, so you’ll have to either hit up the bar, or do what i did and get mega march madness………

now just gotta get through the work week……

ESPN radio local sports reporting saying that Fields is still not practicing and his status for Friday is in doubt.

And Jamie will be on Mike and Mike at 8:20.

Comment by KeyboardKev 03.16.09 @ 6:33 am

all the games are free online schoey…through the NCAA website I believe.

when I lived in Ohio a couple of years ago, I watched Pitt in NCAA for free thru CBS sportsline.com. You have to register but there was no fee … not sure if anything changed

Leave work early on Friday?

I’m going to Las Vegas on Wednesday! Go Pitt!

Comment by Colt Convert 03.16.09 @ 8:41 am

OLGP – yup, forgot about that……im just looking forward to sitting in front of the 2 tv’s with my choice of games all weekend…..

not good news about fields…not good at all….did dixon say anything on mike and mike?

Comment by schoey 03.16.09 @ 8:42 am

I’ve had players with sports hernias many times.
It depends how bad the tear is and where it is.
That Fields is not practicing does not portend well for Pitt. Only answer is surgery and recovery is 8 weeks. His D against WVA was non existent and he is not that quick anyhow….big trouble looming…

Comment by Dan 72 03.16.09 @ 8:59 am

I thought he only had a bruised tailbone…

I havent seen this reported anywhere about Fields?

Comment by Rex 03.16.09 @ 9:46 am

Found this on the Post Gazette:

Q: What is the status of injuries? Levance Fields can’t be 100% as he had five turnovers, shot 3 for 10 from the field and played poor defense. What is the outlook?

Tom Dahl, Erie

FITTIPALDO: Pitt coach Jamie Dixon reported Sunday night that Fields, who has a groin injury, did not practice with the team earlier that day. He mentioned that Fields did not feel great in the West Virginia game. It is an injury he is still working through. Fields does not sit out practice unless there is a reason, so he is not quite yet comfortable with the way he is feeling.

It’s a little bit of a concern at this point, but the extra rest Fields is getting this week will be beneficial for him. By the time game time comes on Friday Fields will be on the court. He is a senior and he’s not going to miss the NCAA tournament for any reason.

Comment by Dave 03.16.09 @ 9:52 am

I don’t like that at all! Hopefully he can rest most of the week and only need to play minimal minutes in the first round.

Comment by Carmen 03.16.09 @ 10:28 am

Dan, A groin injury doesn’t necessarily mean a hernia or a tear. Where are you getting this information form? Everyone calm down until we have facts. It may just need some rest. Let’s see how it develops this week.

Comment by Tiger Paul 03.16.09 @ 10:36 am

Hopefully Marcedes Walker was not the cause of the groin injury.

Comment by Joey D 03.16.09 @ 10:47 am

I would like to hear a little more before I worry. The fact that he isnt practicing isnt a huge deal. Hes a senior with a ton of playing time and experience. Practice isnt crucial, but resting him is. I would think they could play him sparingly in the first round.

Comment by Rex 03.16.09 @ 10:49 am

I heard the ESPN commentators on Thursday night during the WVU game mention a hernia. I don’t think Bilas/Raftery would have thrown this out without backup, but I’ve not seen it anywhere else.

Dixon basically said “I don’t even know our bracket, but I heard that if we win we’ll play either Oklahoma State or Tennesee. We haven’t looked at either of them yet, because we’re not looking past East Tennessee State. They’re a good team, 24-10, and they won their conference.”

He also said Levance was not practicing but we’d see how he felt, and that Gilbert Brown hyperextended his knee in the first half against WVU and didn’t play the 2nd half, but was good to go. The time off is good to help everyone heal.

Was thinking of driving to Dayton and started looking at tickets on Stubhub. I bought tickets on their for last years tourney and I dont recall them being as pricey as they show this year. Anyone have any knowledge of if they think prices will come down as the week goes on? Is Dayton a smaller arena? Maybe theres not as many tickets to sell.

Comment by Z-boy 03.16.09 @ 11:14 am

I hope Verne Lundquist can actually learn the names of the players. Wasnt this the clown who kept miscalling the players at the Sun Bowl? I do enjoy listening to Bill Raftery though.

Comment by Z-boy 03.16.09 @ 11:17 am

I’d try to get tickets off ebay (like i did for detroit a couple years ago) or check dayton.craigslist.org. Those stubhub sites and all the other ones share the same pool of overpriced tickets available to brokers.

You can also easily get tickets for the second game after half the fans leave from the first one…

Comment by Stuart 03.16.09 @ 11:27 am

Dayton Arena seats 13,455

Comment by ej 03.16.09 @ 2:55 pm

Dayton is the smallest arena hosting Round 1 & 2 games and with Ohio State and Louisville playing in Dayton it is going to be a tough ticket for Session 2. There should be tickets floating around for Session 1 for Pitt.
