You really didn’t think I’d skip liveblogging this did you?
One slight change, I’m going to be a little more aggressive at moderating comments. What I mean by that is, when there is a play and say six people all type “wow” or “tackle” or essentially the same comment within a couple seconds of each other, I’m not going to approve them all. It’s nothing personal, it just creates clutter. I’ll approve one or two but not all of them. Hopefully it will allow things to flow better.
Still haven’t figured out why CIL’s “iframe” won’t embed on my blog. If anyone has any skill with this send me an e-mail to explain how I can make it work.
Otherwise, you will find the liveblog starting around noon right here.
Please, before you post absolutely negative posts (or unwarranted ridiculously elated posts) just take a step back and take a realistic approach as froot luips just has done.
Good half time adjustments offensively with the play action passing. Touchdowns happen when the other team starts defending us as a one dimensional team.
Stull is not GARBAGE. he’s just what we keep saying every week- a decent first year QB. Makes mistakes and makes some plays.
Defense is doing a pretty good job slowing down Donald Brown. Most importantly, we’re making plays!
i think that announcers should stop comparing Baldwin to Fitzgerald. he doesn’t have fitzgerald’s ball skills but maybe we’ll see some skills that he has and fitzy lacked (if fitzy lacked any skills)
Stull played, in the second half, like he is capable of playing. Like it or not, he’s our best shot at success. He’s not good enough to make up for blown protection by the line or dropped balls by our WR’s but he is capable of making plays especially when the opposing defense starts stacking the box.
nice end to a very good season.
Hail to Pitt.
I would like to do what you suggest. Do you have any suggestions on how to go about donating the tix, or are there instructions on the Sun Bowl site for how to do that?
Good win. A strange game. I am watching it via DVR as I type, and can’t say “wow, what a great all around game.” Front 7 was awesome, Cavanaugh finally figured out that maybe some play action might get the offensive somewhere in the second half.
I’ll be elated if he does come back, but I really don’t know why Shady would want to come back. I can’t imagine the frustration of being so talented and playing for two such mediocre-to-subpar coaches as Wannstedt and Cavanaugh.
But I’ll take 9-3 and an NYE bowl and some individual players with some great performances. Nice to have a respectable season.
McCoy obviously does not hold the same opinions of Dave Wannstedt as you do, that’s apparent in every quote we’ve heard from him, and he’s gone so far as to say that DW is the big reason he not only came to PITT, but why wants to play a third year here.
I find it strange that on the day that PITT finished the best regular season the program has had in 26 years – you choose to denigrate the Head Coach.
Enjoy your ulcers – you’ve earned them…
The best option on the website is “Take a soldier to the game” ( link to sunbowl.org ). However, that requires you to donate at least 20 tickets. The nice thing is that it gives them to you for less than face value (20 tix for $250 = 12.50 per ticket) but that’s still a lot of money for most people in this economy. If you do one of their donate options by Dec. 10, you get into the game program as a donor.
The nearest base is Fort Bliss. ( link to bliss.army.mil ) They have a contact us option that includes a phone number. I have yet to call them, but it seems to me that they would have a way to accept donations.
El Paso High School listings can be found here: ( link to schoolsk-12.com ). Conveniently, they list the schools’ average median home prices. Thus, if, like me, you’d like to give to the less-privileged areas, you can figure out where the least-valuable houses are and get in touch with those schools.
If anyone does any of the above, it would be nice to hear reports of what works and what doesn’t. I know that times are tough for everyone, but if you can spare it, it would be a great way to brighten the day of some soldiers/students and also support Pitt athletics.
Reed, I don’t have ulcers, although I do have regular reflux. Since you’re so concerned about my health, I’ll post my LDL, HDL, and triglycerides later.
What I’d like to see for Shady is a long, successful NFL career. Maybe Shady is absolutely sincere in what he says about Wannstedt, etc., but I think it’s just as likely that he is doing exactly what he has always done in his time at Pitt: be the consummate team player and NEVER even venture near a critical statement of a Pitt coach or teammate.
My criticisms of Wanny and Cavanaugh are not unique and are not meant to in any way denigrate what this team has accomplished this season. I’m thrilled that this team has had success and hope that Wanny has actually learned some things from this season and will continue to evolve as a coach, so if Shady does indeed comeback, it’s worth the huge potential risks he is taking. Shady seems like too good of a guy to enjoy anything but the greatest success possible in his football career.
Bet the farm on it, Shady will be back.
