Okay, time-delayed. For those stuck with ESPN360.com, the extra misery is it is my understanding that with broadband only there is a good chance that it is without any announcers. Let me know if that’s the case.
In any case, the floor is open.
rutgers game: ranked, everyone is excited about the program…we lose
There is NO EXCUSE for having the 115th ranked offense put up 48 on you on your home field. And just imagine how shaky Bostic would have looked if they didnt put him in for 3 snaps last week.
I can’t complain about cavanugh though… so shift it to fire bennett ?
Ok.. lets see if we can at least win 2 more games.
I thought 34 points would have won the game…obviously, not today!
Hail to PITT!

Bostick couldnt do it last year and he certainly cant do it this year.
4 straight losses to Rutgers. Wanny isnt the answer. He is a .500 coach at best/
Cavanaugh did his job with 34 points. The defensive genius wanny crapped his pants again.
I did not expect that at all…. that was worse than the Navy game last year. 54 fucking points.
Rutgers usually has trouble hitting 20 points!! We had the best ranked defense in the conference.
How the hell did this happen? Off day? We’re overrated? I don’t know. I’m pretty sure it was an off day for the defense, but THAT bad… against fucking Rutgers?!?!?!
That was just inexcusable.
And the 2nd half screwups when we were right back in the game? We were moments away from overcoming a disastrous first half when Aaron Berry just killed everything we had. That just killed me.
Then Stull got hurt, and we aren’t coming back on anybody with Bostick in there.
And the way we responded to adversity on defense was absolutely disgusting.
The Steelers could blow out the Giants by 60 tomorrow, but I’m still going to be sick over this one for a long time.
By the way, USF and Cincy lost today. There goes our chance to distance ourselves from the Big East pack a little bit.
The Big East seems to be a conference full of mediocre teams, and every time one of them gets on a roll, another crappy Big East team comes and knocks them off.
I thought we’d break the trend and rise above that. Wow, was I wrong.
We can still win the conference, but at this point that would be like winning the smartest retard contest (no offense to anyone, I have a mentally handicapped relative, but I just couldn’t think of any other way to put that).
Sorry, I’m just rambling here, but that was awfull. Just a HUGE step back after playing two great games recently.
Hail to PITT!

Berry = just beyond awful. He’s not even good enough a DB to justify the mistakes he made on special teams. I’d like to think a change is made back there for the ND game…Aundre Wright, Stephens-Howling…anybody but Berry.
Decicco really needs to learn his reads a little better. I know the kid is a true soph., but wow. I like the kid a lot and I think he’s going to be a great player, but If he’s going to consistently bite on play fakes, get him out of there and let Fields play a little bit.
I think we’ll be able to rebound from this. I can’t imagine this defense playing this poorly the rest of the year. What worries me about heading into Notre Dame is that they are also capable of exploiting the defensive backs the same way Teel and Co. did today.
Stull Ok, but shakey for next week.
Sorry to all Pitt fans for being so negative and disappointed but I am the king of Wanny watchers and even I was stunned by this poor performance.
I went to HS with him and followed him on his entire coaching career. The one thing I will say is that his exploits and coaching failures are inexplicable! Things seem to happen to him that never happen to another coach….and over and over etc. Was hoping that would change at Pitt.
Just so so disappointing, ugly, and unforseable!
That really sucks about Hauser. That kid was doing a great job this year, too. Hopefully he gets healed up and can come back next year. I’m guessing that happened on the Bostick INT because that’s when he got carried off the field.
The Hauser injury worries me because this is the one o-line position where they were really short on depth. I’m not sure if they can move C.J. Davis to center and then put Jacobsen in Davis’s spot.
Aaron Berry was horrific, I would have made him take his uniform off and walk back to the campus after his fumble. He got beat all day long.
Same old pitt. Every time I think Im out they pull me back in.
ND will be very difficult, especially for a team like Pitt that makes so many mistakes and reacts so slowly (or not at all), Louisville at home is willable but tough, Cinncy is the most winnable game but at Cinncy, WVU is WVU and UConn is like Rutgers…we never seem to beat them there…
Who would’ve thunk it after last weeks Navy game??
I’m trying very, very hard not to think about that, although given the way we’ve played at home this year, maybe we need all the road games we can get. And the sad truth is that I’m only half-joking when I say that.
I’d feel a lot better if I knew we didn’t have the injuries to Hauser and Stull to deal with as well, but that’s football. Every team has injuries. UConn and Cincy are down to the third-string QBs, I think.
I didn’t expect Pitt to win every game from here on out, but I kind of expected them to win this one. As you mentioned, some of these games down the stretch are going to be tough enough to win. With this being a conference game and with Pitt’s relative standing to the rest of the conference heading in, I just expected a much more focused effort today.
Maybe this one was a bad matchup for Pitt, though. Schiano is a good coach and it looked to me like he gameplanned to exploit a weaknesses in Pitt’s defense on the deep pass. He wasted no time in attacking it, and he kept after it. It looked like it was by design right from the start. My guess is that he looked at some of the plays that Syracuse beat the Pitt DBs on, and he went right at it.
I watched some of the UConn-Cincy game today and both of those teams are sloppy. As I said, both teams are down to their third-string QB. Louisville is a decent team, but they’re not what they were in the past. They were helped out tremendously today by yet another patented South Florida Self-Destruction (14 penalties for more than 100 yards).
What bothered me today were some of the calls in Rutgers territory. The decision to kick a few FGs on fourth-and-one rather than just line up and go for it. The fake field goal. The call on third-and-one that led to Bostick’s INT (line it up and run it there, please…or at least don’t force Pat to make that throw across his body). Shades of the Bowling Green game.
Good luck and prayers to Bill Stull and Robb Hauser. Pity their bodies had to suffer for our retarded millionaire coach’s incompetence. Their parents should be seething.
I guess it is just time to accept that we are a mediocre team in a mediocre conference. Then to rub a little salt in the wound. Terrible Pryor hands the nit whits a win in Columbus. Now we will have to hear about that all week.
What a miserable weekend.
But Big Ben would have trouble throwing 6 touchdown passes to win this game. Our defense is the sole reason we lost this game and that can include the coaches. To say Bostick was expected to come off the bench into a shootout in the 2nd half of the 6th game of the season without throwing a single pass all year, and suddenly play his best is rediculous. He did fine for the situation and play calling he was given. Look how Stull played in his 1st game this year and he was more or less the Starter since the offseason. Give the guy a break. His throws had plenty of mustard on them compared to last year and he was responsible for keeping us in several games last year. People have very short memories. He got better as the season went and has some advantages over Stull, like Accuracy and timing. If Stull is unable to come back and play, Bostick is a capable candidate to lead the team. That being said…what happened to the Greg Cross experiment? They were going to play him when they needed to throw a rinkle in there. Then they said they never got a chance to use him in the last few games. Now we don’t see him at all. I guess his million yards a cary average are not cutting the mustard. Would a cross and McCoy combo not kept Rutgers offense off the field today if they went to that combo at times. Seems we have no consitant gameplan or direction. But the offensive execution and Bostick did nothing wrong today. Only the defense and coaching of the defense and offensive play calling were really a problem.
Now, they run a flare out of the backfield on 3rd down and NO one covers at all.
We’ve had worse days….but not many
