Meanwhile, in the Pros

Mike McGlynn is ready to play for the Eagles, including having signed a 4-year contract. It’s very likely that McGlynn will continue for a while to be an offensive lineman playing at multiple spots. One day it may be guard.

McGlynn, a right tackle for much of his collegiate career, says Eagles offensive line coach Juan Castillo has told him he’ll likely play guard or center in the NFL. With two-time Pro Bowler Shawn Andrews on the Eagles’ right side, McGlynn likely will have to be a left guard if he hopes to start.

The next day he’s at center, snapping the ball to Kevin Kolb.

He is getting the positive press.

McGlynn knows what he’s up against, and also knows by now how much more time he’ll need to put in to gain the complete trust of meticulous offensive line coach Juan Castillo.

So each day during this Eagles’ organized team activity for rookies and first-year players, he just tries to soak up as much as he can from Castillo, who is the perpetual motion machine that has driven the line even before Reid arrived.

“So far it’s going good,” McGlynn said. “My goal is to play, but I just want to pick everything up right now, take one thing at a time, pick everything up, the offense, the techniques, then try to earn a spot on the team.”

And he’s got his cliches down. Good sign.

Good for McGlynn. I had no idea he was a third-team All-American.
Makes you wonder, though, why we struggled so mightily up front in recent years with two apparently top-tier college linemen in Otah and McGlynn.

That’s the first I heard he was an AA as well.

Maybe its a mistake – the guy also says McGlynn started at G last year. He started maybe 1-2 games before moving over to RT after Pinkston got hurt.

Takes 5 working together, vangas couldn’t block a 12 year old, thomas regressed, pinkston injured. 2 guys can’t block 7. would have helped if qb could hit the open man, also play calling, never went w/ quick hitter to the TE.

Dave, now you why our OL coach was fired! The poor play of our OL, particularly in short yardage and goal line situations, was beyond mear lack of talent. It does not take a ton of talent to gain a yard or less. I just dont think Dunn inspired the OL to play with fire. I’m sure that he was a fine technician, but it takes more than all the right moves. It takes passion and determination. I’m guessing that is where Dunn failed. He just failed to instill passion and confidence in the OL and it showed. The talent was, and is now, there.
