I didn’t see this in the Spring Practice Guide (PDF), nor anywhere else. I was tipped off by a contact — okay, it’s an old frat brother who works for NFL Films. And it wasn’t exactly a tip so much as a “why haven’t you posted this” e-mail, you idiot. Details, and that’s not important.
The info I am trying to share is that the Blue-Gold Spring Football game will be aired live on the NFL Network. That’s 6pm on Saturday, April 19. There will be a re-airing again at Midnight.
That’s right, as long as you can watch the NFL Network you can actually see the game on TV. No settling for the grainy and glitchy internet video feed like last year.
You would think that DD would have an easy time beating out a smaller, slower player but it just hasn’t happened. Also with Bynum and Pelusi recovering from surgery. They need to line somebody up at TE.

Or, maybe I can go to one of the bars here with DirecTV and ask them to switch one of the TVs from the Yankee game to the Pitt spring game. Yeah, that should be more entertaining. At least until I get my ass kicked.
Hang out at the bar and if you are lucky you might run into a few Pitt BB players who frequent the area regularly.
Worst case, I get a steak at Hyde for my fat arse.
I’ll guarantee that you wrote that last post while in bed with your girlfriend, i mean sister, just like every saturday night.
For those who don’t usually go, it’s fun. If you don’t have parking in the Gold Lots (which I don’t) and you decide to tailgate before (which I do), it’s a taste of the Gilded Life. If you don’t have regular season tix in the sections they allocate (which I don’t), it’s an interesting perspective. And it gives a badly-needed taste of football in the middle of the long offseason.
Moving DD to H Back makes sense, but the bottom line here is that not every 5* recruit is a lock to be a 5* college player. Maybe that changes this season (Dickerson has been doing well so far as reported in his receiving efforts), maybe not. But the most important thing is that DD is being treated just like any other player on the roster. Whatever talents he has shown so far (not what fans believe he has, but what he’s shown) are being used to better the team as a whole. I’m way more concerned in how the team fares as opposed to how DD fares.
To me that’s what a good HC does – uses his personnel to best serve the team. If DD is destined to play second string for four years at PITT then that’s how it shakes out. But another perspective is that had DD not shown some talents he would have been put in one position and lived or died at that position, just like some other – less highly hyped – recruits are.
you are pathetic!!! In the comment above you were suggesting people to go to the waterfront to watch the game instead of giving them shit for not going to the game!!! i bet you’ll be at the waterfront hoping to see a few bball players, pathetic!!!
If tOSU, tTAMU and tPSU can draw 100k to their spring games, we are loser fans if we don’t even make the effort at showing up in person. That is why we Pitt ‘fans’ are are joke to the rest of the country. Football is not in our blood and our alma mater means nothing. Show up, meet a few old friends, tailgate and have some fun. For those married, it always helps to have a supportive wife. Mine doesn’t understand the big deal. Try to make it. If you’re in town, the wife gives you a free pass for the day or you don’t have to work, there are no good excuses. Burghers and Pitt fans in particular always seem to have an excuse. I do envy these other schools with much better fan bases and support. I should have gone to Penn State…NOT!
You can’t expect a 5* HS player to become a 5* College player, as Reed mentioned.
Hell, look at Derrick Williams at State Penn. He was ranked above, you guessed it, Darren McFadden in many scouting sites (including rivals.com).
One went on to become a star RB (second all time SEC rusher behind Herschel Walker), and the other wallowed at a University in the middle of nowhere, trying in vain to catch passes from a QB who withdrew his commitment to a much finer institution about 140 miles West. 🙂
The Post Gazzette confirms that Blue-Gold Spring Football game will be aired live on the NFL Network.
I’m disappointed that Pitt doesn’t have better national coverage.
The OSU spring games are also televised by TWC in my area. So in additon to a 100k fans at the stadium they also have a very large TV audience. Maybe we would have a larger total fan base if we stop attacking our own fans for the way in which they chose to support the Panthers.
