You know what makes this incarnation of Georgetown frustrating. They can be classy and give credit.

Q. At the end of the first half, they were outrebounding you. Those are hustle plays. How did you address that at the beginning of the second half, because I really saw your team get out‑hustled particularly on the boards.

COACH THOMPSON III: It just happens. It’s one of those days. I agree, it did happen. And you’ve got to give them all the credit in the world. That’s a team that’s gone through a lot of adversity this year with the injuries that they’ve had.

Obviously, Jamie is a terrific coach. They’ve done a terrific job of sticking together and staying focused as a unit. So you’ve got to give just all the credit to them for what they accomplished today.

Q. Jessie, did that team play like a team that had played four games in four days?

JESSIE SAPP: They just played like they wanted to win. They did a lot of hustle plays. And you wouldn’t have known that they played in four days. They just played hard, and congratulations to those guys.

No backhanded slaps. No we were the better team junk. Just giving Pitt credit.

Yup, class all the way. compare it to Creans/Marquette players’ comments, where they claim they lost the game, Pitt didn’t win it. Hail to Pitt!

I appreciate the classiness…it is forever emblazoned into my head about how much of a douchebag Rich Rodriguez was after Pitt beat his team 13-9. No credit to Pitt…just trashing his own players, albeit not by name.

I believe, and hope, that Dixon & Wanny have the appropriate couth to show respect in both winning and losing.

A little different than Dick Rod’s response after 13-9…

That being said, apparently a couple of the GTown players – Hibbert being one of them – went into the locker room without shaking hands.

This tournament should quite the Dixon critics for awhile. He can coach and he can recruit and he can win the big game. he will take us to the promised land. maybe this year, maybe next!

I was going to point out what rwill said…Hibbert walked off like a little bitch again.

Blair owns that ass. “And i got a watch!”

What a celebration at the Garden! Hundreds on the court being so, so proud of their team and our team embracing its fans. Iwas there for the Rangers in 94 and this rivals it.

Great to see so many Blather and Rivals contributors at the game and to see their smiling faces.

A special hi to Tony.

HAIL TO PITT!

Ha! They’ll be quiet til his next loss, then it’ll be “average” this, “mediocre” that. There is no winning with retard fans until you win a national championship EVERY YEAR.

HAIL TO PITT

JT 3 is all about class, also an excellent coach!
Great win! now, if we can beat 3 top 25 programs in 3 days… can we finally slip into the elite 8???

Georgetown’s coaches have always been reasonable when it comes to their opponents. I believe John Thompson learned that from his Father.

I think that people outside of the PITT fan circle, and maybe many inside of it, fail to realize what a masterful job Dixon did over the course of the season. With the injuries to Fields and Cook Dixon was counselled on many occasions to “play it safe and get ready for next season”. He obviously didn’t do that, and IMO the reason was that he felt he owed it to the seniors on the team to give it his best shot.

A very telling quote from Dixon post-game last night was “I could watch these kids celebrate all night, and I can’t wait for our next practice”. No mention of his hard work, or of the tough things he had to deal with, no tooting his own horn (and he would have been justified to do so) just all about the kids and the team.

Just getting up and sobering up after reliving the game in my sleep all night.

*Thought Dixon’s TO late second half after a GT breakaway and slam that cut the lead to 4 was huge. There is no way to learn game coaching but doing it. JD much improved in that area.

Brown and Biggs both unsung heroes..

* Getty pics are awesome…thank you Chas.

I just Love these guys. Talk about heart!!!!the whole TEAM stepped up and willed this to happen. Dixon is the MAN.

i wouldn’t go that far. you could audibly hear several of their players whining – particularly rivers and ewing in the 2nd half. hibbert is a no class player (the game at the petersen earlier in the year and tonight’s class-less display). but it’s alright – his game is hideous and he will never contribute to a successful nba team. ever. congratulations to a great pittsburgh team.
