Most people you ask will say any logo choice that the Pitt Athletic Department makes which doesn’t involve changing back to script is a wrong choice. Even if you don’t think that, I’m sure we can all join in saying this is about as bad as it gets.
What we have is a replacement of secondary logo including a “sleeker,” more “modern” look. Yeah, right. Expect to see both of those words in the press release.
Some are calling it “Dinocat 2.0,” others saying it looks like a harmless dog. The topic has six pages (and counting) on the message boards. Chas also wrote about it over at the FanHouse.
Artist: “Now, this is just something I came up with, back of the envelope while taking a crap. A very rough draft. It won’t look like some kind of dog-thundercat hybrid when I’m finished.”
Admin: “It’s Perfect, we’ll take it!”
I can’t believe this. This has to be a joke, right? We could go undefeated and I would still have trouble admiting I was a Pitt fan with that retarded dog thing with it’s head stuck in that triangle
I’ll continue wearing my old script-Pitt shirts to Heinz Field and especially around State College. At least PSU fans recognize that logo.
It looks terrible. Quit “marketing”. Give us back our old script and the old colors and be done with it. The first thing “Wonder Boy” Steve Pederson did when he got back to Nebraska was put the darn stripes BACK on their football pants. For tradition’s sake. Of course he had to change ours.
You go into any store and buy Penn State gear and it all looks the same. Our stuff looks like it was designed by a five year old. There is a reason the great programs don’t change their uniforms or logos every three or four seasons. We just can’t seem to figure it out.
The old script was instantly recognizable and unique. Our helmets were as cool at UCLA’s. The pants looked great too.
The players loved the throwbacks, the fans loved them, the coaches loved them….so let’s just keep tweaking something that nobody, but those in administration, likes.
That’s it. It’s over. There has to be a complete and total boycott of all Pitt gear from here on out.
doesn’t help this beagle logo, though, does it?
You can find that here…

It doesn’t have the article’s original Rite Aid logo pic, tho.
