At What Cost, Beasley?

I see from the comments regarding Huggins to WVU the speculation is heavy that Pitt might be involved to get Beasley if K-State eventually releases him from his Letter of Intent. PSR-Keystone Recruiting also noted it. There’s speculation that Pitt might find a way to free up one extra scholarship to get Beasley. He’s a tremendous talent that might be worth it. But would he be worth two scholarships and complete disruption?

A fellow Fanhouser posted on Dominique Sutton — another K-State recruit — claiming that he and Beasley are a package deal to go anywhere. Sutton claims that NC State, FSU and USC all have expressed interest. The other point is that the real question is where does Beasley’s former AAU Coach and Huggins assistant Dalonte Hill go? He’s the one that got Beasley to first verbal to Charlotte then move to K-State when he got hired there.

Just not seeing this happen.

On Rivals this morning they had an article about Sutton–he said he was staying at KSU

The Charleston Gazette has this article about K-State recruits: link to wvgazette.com

Near the end they mention “But according to a source at Kansas State Thursday night, Huggins had already contacted one of his other signed recruits, North Carolina shooting guard Dominique Sutton, and told him that three West Virginia players were going to transfer and that there would be room for Sutton, Beasley and perhaps more.”

If this is true is it considered tampering with recruits or something?

I highly doubt K-State will allow Beasley to transfer to WVU. However, I do think they will allow him out of his LOI, if thats surely what he wants. I presume it will all come down to the terms of the contract…

I feel bad for the KSU fans because they were really excited about the future. With that said…life hasn’t been great for near PITT players. Tyler Smith went to Iowa because there was security in the coaches job? wow. If you like eating Alford flakes for breakfast, have fun in Albuquerque. N’Diaye went to Rutgers and we all know how bad they were this year. He could have redshirted with us and got his butt kicked by Kendall and Gray for a year but most likely he would have played key minutes on a sweet sixteen team. As for Beasley, I hope he finds his way to a good education. Don’t go following people all over the country like sheep. Panthers eat sheep for dinner you know. Also I would like to add that if we had Tyler Smith this year, we would have been a final four team. Sorry to rant off there…just shedding the last of basketball season. GO PITT!

Ohh… I forgot that Pope kid …..

Comment by Panthoor 04.06.07 @ 2:57 pm

Does New Mexico State have any history of releasing players from their LOIs?

Comment by Cris 04.06.07 @ 2:58 pm

I hope not..Pope should go there, it’s a good fit it seems. I hope he gets better from the incident, that should not happen to anybody.

Andy Katz is reporting that Texas A&M wants Dixon. Any chance he leaves Pitt for A&M? I don’t see it happening.

Comment by Omar 04.06.07 @ 3:15 pm

I cant picture that happening.

I now read that Dalonte Hill is going to be the associate head coach and KState isn’t going to release anyone. I’m just glad Beasley won’t be in our conference.

I wonder when these kids are going to stop being dumb and listing to people like Huggins.

And I hate to say it, but Huggins at W Vagina is a perfect fit. Look at the crap that comes out of that state: Adam Pacman “give me my money back stripper” Jones…OJ “not my weed” Mayo… I don’t think they have any laws in that state (except no speeding on the ONE paved road that everyone from out of state uses to go through that wasteland). That’s perfect, the hillbillies can drive him home after they find him vomitting on the door of the car he’s driving. He’s perfectly safe now, he’ll never get in trouble with the “law” down there. I predict a long career there. What offense could he possibly get kicked out for?

Comment by Stuart 04.06.07 @ 6:29 pm

Yeah, he’d probably have to kill somebody to get fired at his alma mater.

The sad thing is, that’s probably not out of the question.

Also, on the subject of Mr. Beasley, I believe there is a limit of five on the number of scholarships a team can give out in any one year, and they currently have five incoming recruits, so in order to make room for Beasley (and possibly Sutton), I think they’d have to convince one (or two) of those five guys to go to prep school for a year or something like that. The PSR article states that Dodson still is not eligible, so that might be one right there, but who would the second one be?

Beasley coming to Pitt seems rather unlikely.

Comment by Jeff 04.06.07 @ 7:36 pm

You can give as many scholarships as you have available.

Comment by Omar 04.06.07 @ 8:39 pm

i don’t think we have an available scholarship though

Comment by kamesh 04.06.07 @ 8:46 pm

Ah, my mistake. I googled it, and apparently that five scholarships/yr. rule was eliminated in ’04.
