Which Side

I’m sure most of you don’t care, but tonight is the Crosstown Shootout between Cinci and Xavier. Even though the wife is a Cinci alum, I’m struggling with who to support.

On the one hand, it’s Cinci, a BE team and it’s good for the conference and ultimately Pitt for them to win. In terms of out-of-conference record, conference strength and of course the RPI — direct benefits to Pitt for Cinci to win. Plus Bob Huggins is no longer there to hate.

On the other side, Xavier is coached by former Pitt PG, Sean Miller. And I always like to see the alum doing well. Especially a guy who played while I was at Pitt.

“Especially a guy who played while I was at Pitt.”

You’re old 😉

gotta root for the alum over just another Big East school…plus, get used to rooting for miller, he’ll be our next coach

Miller our coach? Maybe in like 15 years.

Tonight I’ll be on Cinci’s side.

MILLER WILL BE THERE SOONER THAN YOU THINK. I THINK AS DIXON GETS MORE EXPENSIVE AND SOME OTHER PROGRAM WITH MORE MONEY SWOPES IN AND TAKES HIM IN ABOUT 5 YEARS, MILLER IS THE HEIT APPARENT.

Please explain to we why Dixon would leave? His wife went to Pitt, he met her here, his kids go to Pittsburgh Schools and if we learned anything last year it is that Pitt is willing to spend money to keep talent around.

guess i should explain a bit…im not sayin this is anywhere in the near future (less than 5-7 years), but if we lose jaime i can see us hiring sean miller as the next coach. its not a rumor, just something i think.
i dont see why jaime would leave either, but stranger things have happened and who knows what will be the case in another 7 yearas.

i can see pitt coming up with the money for Dixon. pitt likes being a “basketball” school.

I wonder if “Jaime” is more of a Mexican-style taco man or has more South American roots and prefers steaks with chimichurri? 😀 Sorry, couldn’t resist.

there’s already a history of the name Jaime in Pitt basketball….if anybody remembers Jaime Peterson, the worst big man to every suit up for the Panthers.

And I agree with the Sean Miller thing…..it’s just a matter of time before he’s here. It could be many years, but it will happen. Nothing means more in the Burgh than roots, and John Miller’s run deep around here.
